Sony To Try Tru2Way

Posted May 28, 2008 - By Stephen Johnson

Sony announced that they have signed an agreement with the leading cable companies in the US to develop a TV that gets cable without the need for a set-top box.

The technology is called Tru2way, and it allows interactive cable services to be integrated directly into TVs and other devices. Comcast, Time Warner Cable, Cox Communications, Charter Communications, Cablevision, and Bright House Networks have all agreed to develop the technology behind Tru2way.

Sony's not the only one interested; Panasonic announced and Samsung are both developing Tru2Way sets as well.
