Microsoft Talking to Yahoo Again

Posted May 19, 2008 - By bleahy

Microsoft has re-opened talks with Yahoo in the hopes of bringing about a transaction.

This comes after Carl Icahn, a major shareholder at Yahoo, initiated a proxy fight to unseat Yahoo's board of directors after they refused Microsoft's first offer.

This new proposal, however, does not include an acquisition of Yahoo by MS. We'll see how this plays out, but hopefully Microsoft and Yahoo can reach some agreement and turn their sights on Google.

"Microsoft is not proposing to make a new bid to acquire all of Yahoo at this time, but reserves the right to reconsider that alternative depending on future developments and discussions that may take place with Yahoo or discussions with shareholders of Yahoo or Microsoft or with other third parties," said Microsoft.
