No 'Force Unleashed' Multiplayer on PS3/360

While the Wii version will have an awesome multiplayer duel mode, the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions won't be getting any multiplayer component.

LucasArts' official statement on the matter:

"To be specific, there's no multiplayer in the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions, because there is on the Wii, PSP, and DS. As far as specific reasons are concerned, we don't really like to get into the reasons why we don't do things because I don't think there's really a satisfactory answer that people would really be happy with. So, there isn't multiplayer and that's kind of how it is..."

Wait... what?

You aren't putting multiplayer on the two consoles with the best online multiplayer services because you're putting multiplayer on 3 platforms that are at the bottom of the multiplayer barrel?

You just got downgraded to rental, Force Unleashed.

I lost interest when I saw they took a dump on the story (Darth Vader is in his suit at the end of III yet this that takes place after hes not in it???!!!)

This canonically speaking should start after Dark Lord: The Rise of Darth Vader. It is going to be interesting how the Sith apprentice turns to the light and betrays Vader. Maybe he's the one that fraks him up so bad.

I didn't even know it was going to have multi-player so I really don't care- I'm buying it anyway. I would say one reason they did it was to increase sales of those "bottom 3" platforms; but who knows? If the game does well im sure they will have this mode for DLC.

I still don't understand why this is such a big deal. It has no multiplayer. Big whup. It doesn't mean the game's story will suck and that the game will be no fun. I play games for storyline and gameplay. If I wanted to do multiplayer I would pick up a FPS. That's just my opinion.

I don't know but I think Nintendo has them on their payroll. I mean, come on, are you serious???? It really doesn't make sense but hey, that could be the difference..........at least we know how the graphics are gonna look with the 360 and PS3 but without multiplayer???? It does seem odd.....

I might still buy the game, but I was looking forward to the Battlefront II-esque multiplayer.

I was literally going to pre-order it tomorrow, but now I'm going to wait until closer to release to decide if I'm even going to buy it.

Well it looks like the Wii actually has a 3rd party game worth playing. As for all the other consoles with or without multiplayer it's gonna suck. Episodes 1 through 3 sucked, every other game(X Wing and Tie Fighter and Battlefront 2 excluded) has sucked and the majority of comics regarding star wars suck. So if it seems like suck, sounds like suck, but looks pretty... its suck. Just another Lucas Arts terd.

I use a mail-order game rental service. If a game doesn't have multiplayer, it better be a major mega-huge hit title for me to buy it without playing it outright.

I have the option to just keep the rented game. If not, send it back. If I ever want to play it again... I just rent it again.

No multiplayer = an Instant No Buy. How can they give multiplayer to the weakest versions (The WII, DS,...etc) but IGNORE the most powerful systems? Jedi Knight had multiplayer, so THERE IS NO EXCUSE!!! This game just went from MUST BUY for my 360 to bargain bin status, maybe I won't even get it then. And speaking of Lucasarts, WHERE IS THE NEW INDIANA JONES GAME that they were supposedly working on? I don't mean that Legos crap, I mean their EUPHORIA game, which is here: http://ps3.ign.com/articles/70 5/705489p1.html. The movie will be out next week, but there is no sign of the game. It's not the fact that multiplayer is missing from PS3. I mean, I never expected it, and I was still looking forward to the game.

It's the fact that LucasArts has the ability to make multiplayer for every platform but aren't. That's what is pissing me off. What the crap are they smoking. What happened to trying to make the best game possible?

Multiplayer would have been a very nice addition, and very different than a FPS...that is part of the reason why I am perturbed...the explanation they give is junk is the other reason for my irritation.

I agree multiplayer doesn't make a game good or bad (generally) but it seemed like this was a key marketing point. Yea GOW doesn't have it but in that case it wasn't ever even suggested that it would. So I see your point but I disagree, they had alluded to some online mode for pretty much everything.

I undertand that people are pissed because they announced online with the Wii first and then today no online for PS3/360. So what? If you have a Wii, then get it for the Wii. This whole online gaming generation just pisses me off. Multiplayer is fun and I'm all for it, but it doesn't make or break a game. There's no doubt that Multiplayer is a major factor in this generation of games but videogames also have this going for them, what do you call it? Oh yeah a storyline.

Im just pissed because of the fact they want to give special stuff to everyone but 360 and PS3. I usually dont mind if a game has multiplayer, but some games dont have nearly as much replay value as others. I guess my hopes were too high. I really hope the campiagn has EXTREMELY good replay value...

They gave the 360 and the PS3 "Euphoria", and they consider that to be special, but without some kind of multiplayer, they can shove their "Euphoria" engine up their ass...

Big Star Wars fan. Muti player can be important. Wii is a little kids machine and I'm a hardcore gamer. Bottom of the barrel is troo. I don't care how many Cheap Wii's Nintendo sells, it's still a kids machine. Well, I will get the game just to have it. Yet, I always have GTA4 Online Multi player. Not a biggie for me. Sorry kiddies, I grew out of Mario, Zelda and lolly pop, bubble gum characters.

I will get the Xbox 360 version. I really want to see the game in it's true next Gen graphics and gameplay. The rest of you Wii fans could have fun with your low rez version. Have fun..

It's not really Mario and Zelda that gets me about the Wii, it's the fact that it has only 5 or 6 good games....and isn't planning on increasing that number....

As for Star Wars games, they only have three great series': Battlefront, KOTOR, and X-Wing/Tie Fighter, and only the Battlefront series still exists..

Dude, when the game was being shown, it was about the next gen graphics, it was not till recently that this whole Multi Player thing became an issue. No matter what. I would rather play it as it was meant to be played in the first place. On a Next GEN SYSTEM!!!! Not Last Gen System.

I even bet that the Multi player will take a back seat once it comes out and people will focus talking about the Game on either PS3 or Xbox 360. One thing is that Wii or those hand helds are known for Multi player.

It has nothing to do with Nintendo sales. Most Wii owners are kids, and kids like Star Wars. They were going to sell that game on the Wii system without any help. I think it's pretty obvious what happened. They have a crappy "Street Fighter" esque battle system that was probably copy and pasted from Star Wars Episode III. For the Xbox and PS versions, they'd have to do something bigger and more open... like what they did in Jedi Knight. Only they couldn't do it, either because the project was too big, or it ended up with sloppy mechanics like Jedi Knight had. So they scrapped it, or are tweaking it for the next SWTFU game. Either way, they can't really delay it past this holiday season, as their Euphoria engine will have imitators by then, and the compitition may eat them up.

But what bothers me is the fact that when you beat a game, thats it. It doesnt make sense to give the Wii duel mode when you could give it to the 360 as well. Also the fact that the PS2 version has extra levels is bull. Why dont they understand that the people who went to go see episode one when they were eight years old are now grown up! Puting more exclusives on one console over the other is just un fair. But I guess the universe finds away to balance its self since we get Yoda for SC4! :}

ARE YOU FRIGGEN KIDDING ME!?!?! I'VE NEVER EVER HEARD ANYTHING SO SNOBISHLY VILE COME OUT OF ANY COMPANY'S MOUTH. I'm going to boycott this game just based on this comment alone.

LucasFarts have to stand accountable for their actions - we as gamers have to DEMAND higher quality and better integrity, not instantly cave in to money-grubbing marketing gimmicks like SOME of you have done.

If you do go out and buy 2 versions of this game just to get multiplayer, you're ENABLING LucasFarts and other companies to pull these kinds of stunts in the future.

Think about it: do you want Call of Duty 5 to come out, for example, with an Xbox360 Multiplayer exclusive version and a PS3 exclusive Singleplayer version? Because if LucasFarts makes a lot of money off this stunt, other copmanies will follow! I urge you to boycott this game for the sake of a better videogaming future!

Since when does the 360 deserve anything? It's a total failure and on its way out. What can you expect when it only offers terrible FPS's (belong on PC) sports and racing? Anything worth playing is better on a different console. This story is proof.

the wii version has 5 extra levels and a multiplayer mode because the ps3/360 versions get the better ai and engines and the hd graphics. the games are exactly the same besides that, same levels, missions, etc.

Ummm, is it just me, or did anyone else notice how the article does not in any way shape or form talk about/refer to online play, only the 1v1 in-the-same-room duel mode that the wii has? i.e. a fairly minor extra feature (probably included due to how cool actually swinging a lightsaber is) and not the online multi that everyone else seems to think it is? In other words, NO console would seem to have online play AT ALL in SWTFU. Just a duel mode.

Does everyone here not realize that LucasArts are only internally developing the 360 and PS3 versions? All they did is give the OK for the development of the multiplayer in the other versions. So it's not like the multiplayer was something THEY were working on anyway. So you can't really blame them for what's IN the other versions.

Otherwords Nintendo forked over the Cash for the Multiplayer, while 360 and PS3 wheren't willing to fork it over.

Dude, I own more games and consoles than you've ever seen. I can't be a fanboy. I just learned to recognize crap from a distance and anything XB requires a shovel and baggie. No games, bad hardware, no thanks. Hell I own a Game Gear and Virtual Boy with more good games than have ever been released on XB or 360. It's the truth and everyone knows it, the fanboy denial is the fault. Which is why stories like these that prove me right always collect the kiddy trolls who couldn't afford a real console and/or PC. So go cry somewhere else.

I think Lucas is forgetting that WE are the ones that they are supposed to make happy if they want to make money--do they really think that they are that BIG of a company that they can now do whatever they want and it not affect them?? This game is definitely no longer a buy for me--I just saw any replayability disappear...plus that guy is a jerk

Great news! This just reinforced my pre-order intentions. I don't play online, so I'll be able to get all of the achievements. Online play is overrated.

These comments made my day, listening to all the teenage fanboys whining, little foul-mouthed losers whose self-worth is tied to their choice of gaming console. I love the extent to which you've deluded yourselves into thinking the gaming world revolves around you 15-23 year old boys still living at home.

I find LucasArts's hubris to be precious!Considering how much bull I have to endure being a Wii gamer, this made my day. I wasn't planning on buying this, but I may have to now.

this... i have all 3 systems and i REALLY like these kinds of games. i mean really what's cooler than having force powers? the singleplayer part of those games is FANTASTIC. but so is multiplayer... sigh... i'm not going ot kid myself im DEFINITELY buying the game. just dont know what system... depends on if the graphics are truly dif on 360 or ps3 compared to the wii. and if i do buy it for the wii it's not going to be for some weak ass 2 player duel mode. wiimote ftw

except**...each system is better in its own way, the xbox360 has the best FPS and online multiplayer, the Wii is good for parties, while the PS3 is above average all around

So, now that MY credentials are out there, I can now claim what is crap and what is not. I'm very sorry to say, that it is you DPsx7, who is crap. I know it sucks, but my background is solid. It's a shame that your mother didn't have the forknowledge to drown you in a puddle when you were born. Sorry for the bad news.
