Kid Mayor is a Gamer

Posted by Ty Colfax - Friday, May 16, 2008 11:09 AM

John Tyler Hammons will soon be the new mayor of Muskogee, OK. This would not be significant except that he is only 19 years old. It's not the result of some election machine malfunction or accidental write-in support. He ran for reals and won a run-off in landslide fashion over someone who is 70 years old and a 3-time previous mayor.

Not only that but he proclaims himself a gamer, as well as a fan of movies, fast cars, and rock and roll. If you're looking for affiliations he was the president of his high school's Young Republicans Club, but also their Young Democrats Club. But he is a stated Republican and has his eyes on the governorship of Oklahoma, and maybe someday the presidency. Nice work kid. Now get these politicians off our gaming backs.

Lol, I am from Mustang, OK and I have to say we have a similar situation in that town. My problem is priorities. In my town we had a young mayor, and as a result, he had too many priorities before being a mayor, who knows maybe he will do a good job, but like most folks at that level, he will probably be pretty useless.

@btfosho...

You're from Ada?? Isn't that the place that's sent a handful of guys to Death Row who weren't even guilty, due to shoddy police/prosecutor work?? John Grisham wrote a nonfiction book about it. "The Innocent Man" I think.
