MySpace Wins Big Money From Spammers

Posted by Stephen Johnson - Wednesday, May 14, 2008 3:32 PM

MySpace has a lot of friends, and at least one enemy. The fake-friend aggregation site just won a hujungous judgment against a spammer for $230 million.

"Anybody who's been thinking about engaging in spam are going to say, `Wow, I better not go there,'" MySpace's chief security officer, Hemanshu Nigam, told The Associated Press on Tuesday. "Spammers don't want to be prosecuted. They are there to make money. It's our job to send a message to stop them."

Somehow, we doubt we'll stop getting spam on myspace; we predict the war between spammers and myspace continues.

Funny story considering, I got 4 spams in my Myspace inbox this morning. Maybe they didn't get the memo yet?

Well, if myspace got 230 mil for spammers, don't you think that the people getting spammed (us) deserve a bit of cha-ching?
