'Spaced' and 'Life on Mars' Might Disappear

, surely much to the joy of Simon Pegg and Gareth Edwards who opposed its unlicensed remake on Fox, has not been picked up after all. Possibly the outcry from fans of the British version as well as sly hintings of lawsuitown from Pegg and Edwards are what squashed its pickup. We know it wasn't a sudden tinge of artistic integrity.

The Life on Mars pilot commissioned by ABC is in dire straits as well. The completed pilot has been ordered to be totally reshot with only the main cast member staying. Yikes. That's a serious overhaul of the show, not to mention a near doubling of production costs.

Good news for purists of the British series stripe; bad news for people who wanted to see these shows get an American touch. True, that usually makes things awful, but you can't deny that the American Office has gotten its own legs and has developed its own identity, so its hard to say.
