We knew going into the weekend that things weren't looking good for the Speed Racer film, as it was tracking poorly heading into its opening. But they turned out to be even worse than we thought. The movie, made by the Wachowskis, responsible for the Matrix series, made only $20 million over the weekend, which was barely enough to beat What Happens In Vegas for second place.
How bad is that? Well, Iron Man, in its second week, made over $50 million, to crush the competition, so people were going to the movies this weekend, they just weren't going to see Speed Racer. This week, the new Narnia film, Prince Caspian opens, so it doesn't look good for a Speed rebound, either.
