Long rumored to be in the works, today it's official: Universal and Take Two are combining forces to bring us a Bioshock movie.
Director Gore Verbinski, (Pirates of the Caribbean, The Ring) is slated to direct and produce the film. John Logan, writer of Gladiator, The Aviator and Sweeney Todd, is in talks to write BioShock’s screenplay.
"We are excited that 2K Games' vision for BioShock will be carried forward in a new medium," said Strauss Zelnick, Chairman of Take-Two. "BioShock has been hailed as one of the most highly cinematic and richly plotted titles in interactive entertainment, making it extremely well-suited to film. In partnering with Universal and Gore Verbinski, we have assembled a team that respects the uniqueness of BioShock and will translate it into a powerful movie experience."
Hmm... two talented, creative people and one incredibly awesome videogame story: Could this be the movie that breaks Hollywood's curse on videogame flicks?

Don't be too sure. They somehow managed to completley mess up Doom and even Silent Hill.
But I REALLY hope this turns out to be a good movie.
Now comes the hard part. How to make the movie as atmospheric as the game without using FP perspective.
Logan and Verbinski better be ready to get this movie scrutinized by bioshock fans (like myself)down to the last plasmid
@Shadow016
don't say that. You might hurt sjohnson's feelings.
Doom had a story?
Ya, there are many ways to kill this.. but I really hope they just stick to the story of the game.. really.. they have a gem.. don't destroy it..
I'd love to see what they do with this game/movie. It's certainly going to be challenging making the Big Daddies and Little Sisters work well. And what about Atlas? How in the world do you make a movie where one of the main characters is a voice on the other end of a walkie talkie? (The obvious exception being HAL from "2001.")
One question though...In the game you can choose to kill or save the little sisters. How will that translate to the big screen?
