Zune Scores Your Fave Shows

Posted by Frank Meyer - Tuesday, May 06, 2008 2:01 PM

Microsoft announced today that Zune, the company’s all-in-one digital entertainment brand, is adding new software features and content to the Zune online store, music community and Zune Pass monthly subscription service.

Wooo hoooo! (He says, not really caring much either ways…)

Zune is expanding its video store to include downloads of popular TV shows from Comedy Central, FUNimation Entertainment, MTV, NBC Universal, Nickelodeon, Starz Media, Turner Broadcasting, Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) and VH1 that consumers can sync to their device and enjoy on the go.

Rad shows that will be available to the Zune sect include South Park, Afro Samurai, The Hills, The Office, Heroes, 30 Rock, SpongeBob SquarePants, Battlestar Galactica, Metalocalypse, Rock of Love, Robot Chicken, and UFC’s The Ultimate Fighter  and Fight Night. Each show will be priced at 160 Microsoft Points per episode (about $1.99) at launch.

To score these goodies ya just choose a Zune Pass or a la carte MP3 downloads. Zune Pass subscribers can now set up automatic, real-time feeds of the music their friends are listening to and add those songs to their collection or Zune device.

“Partnering with Zune will allow us to develop innovative content offerings for their customers, including flexible pricing and packaging options beginning this fall,” said JB Perrette, president of NBC Universal Digital Distribution. “NBC Universal is excited to offer our hit television shows to Zune customers.”

So now the Zune online store offers over 3.5 million tracks, two-thirds of which are available in pure MP3 format, 800 television shows, 4,800 music videos and 3,500 audio and video podcasts….making it quite, quite awesome.

Hey, hey hey..... the Zune can have NBC shows.

The Zune is a badly kept ship in the open ocean with leaks everywhere. NBC just jumped on board thinking that they can make it on the high seas but they don't realize that the rats have been gone for a LOOOOOOONG time.

Maybe it's time to stop being douches, fire your VP of internet media and technology and come back to Apple. Trust me, as long as you don't act like you're a hot shot, Steve will take you back into HIS store. That's something that NBC forgot, they don't own the store, only the product that belongs to them.

Cool now I can get some NBC shows on my zune the legal way.

Don't own a zune
Don't know anyone else who does
NBCs just too far up their ass to go back to Apple, so they jump onto the only competetitor that has so far only put a scratch on the Ipods armor.
Got an Itouch... lovin it

I use to own an ipod, now I have an 80 gig Zune. Hate to say it apple fanboys, but its a better device. The first zune sucked bad, but the new models are superior in video quality and features. Now that it has tv, and hopefully soon full length movies, there's no reason to get an ipod, unless you just have to be like everyone else and follow the fad.

PS- I know at least 8 people just at my job who own Zunes, so people are catching on.

yeah... pod people scare me. especially when every single person i know that has had an ipod(every one they've ever had) has had to get it sent in and repaired or completely had to wipe it more than once and reload all the content. and... for once i WISH i were just being a stupid fan boy and exagerating but it's actually true. every single freaking pod. and nobody's has lasted a full year yet.

now i know about the same amount of people with zunes and 1 guy had a problem that his came with a dead pixel. that's it. and i've had mine since the 30gb came out(dear god i need to upgrade...)

but ignoring actual quality of the product... tiny screen ftl. duh. 0.o

You're kidding right Travelmaps?

I currently own 5 iPods and an iPhone and have NEVER had a lick of issues with them. Have I cleared them off and re-uploaded everything back onto them? Sure have but at the same rate that I reformat my Hard Drives in my PowerMac G5, once every 18 months just to keep everything fresh and nice.

You sound just like all the Mac Haters from the 90's.... "I have a friend who has a Mac and he says they suck..." Sorry buddy, that line is as old as you are.

I still have a 3G iPod that still works fine. Sure I had to replace the battery but that costed me all of $5 and 2 minutes of my time.

What are you going to tell me next that the WalkMan is making a come back because it is featured in all of Sony's phones??? I owned a W810i and could not STAND the interface, that's when I went to the iPhone and have never looked back.

I have a zune. love it. bought my mom one and she could use it right out of the box. i work on airplanes and we find pods all the time. people just don't care if they leave them. never found a zune. zune ftw.

KindredEX um... why the hell do you have 5 ipods? and no i'm not kidding, as i said it's unfortunately true. i honestly say it's unfortunate because people around me generally look to me for technical help when their stuff breaks cause i'm the only formaly IT educated person in our group.

at work i'm the head of quality control. the build quality of tech stuff literally is my business. i can buy a 4gb ipod shuffle for 40 bucks(as opposed to your 2gb for 70). but i dont because it's pure crap. period.

i'm just making a point that i'm not as biased as you think i am. i, unlike you, actually have factual information behind my words. like this: i actually like itunes, in most ways, better than zune software. it has some really great features. but the device itself is severely laking in comparison in terms of build quality and usefulness(screen size almost double and wifi ftw)
