Some of you mighta heard earlier this week that Vivid Video was releasing a sex tape by long-deceased guitar legend Jimi Hendrix.
But the Hendrix estate is saying the footage of Jimi romping with two groupies is a fake.
"We strongly dispute the claimed authenticity of the tape," the group said in a statement. “We view the release as nothing more than a callous attempt to trade on the image and reputation of a deceased artist who is unable to defend himself against such an outrageous and baseless assertion."
But Vivid co-chairman Steven Hirsch, the man behind sex tapes of Kim Kardashian and Pamela Anderson, retorted that the comments from Hendrix's people were "not in any way a refutation of the authenticity" of the tape, adding that Vivid is "very comfortable this is the real thing".
He says they scored the footage of the music legend shot in a hotel room about 40 years ago from a memorabilia collector. The company has said they consulted with several experts to authenticate the footage.
Hendrix died of a drug overdose in 1970…but apparently died a happy, fulfilled man!
