More Xbox 360 Blu-Ray SKU Rumors Surface

Ever since the death of HD-DVD, the Blu-Ray/Xbox 360 rumors just won't die. This one, however, comes with a bit of credibility. Please note that I said, "a bit."

A Chinese company is claiming that it has won the order from Microsoft to provide built-in Blu-Ray drives for Xbox 360's to ship in Q3 of this year.

Of course, Microsoft won't confirm anything. That's why it's time to SPECULATE!!!

Would you buy a 360 with a Blu-Ray drive? Odds are it would only play Blu-Ray movies. There's very little chance that it Microsoft would use Blu-Ray's for their games. It's more likely that it'll be an external add-on.

this will be very funny!!! Reason is it is rumored that gears 2 is about 40GB, and thats makes since. all you xbots gonna have to buy a whole new xbox to play the new games hilarious!!!

Deserving though. I harbor no ill feelings towards any other posters on the FEED, but I can't stand the thought of a "fanboy" posting news. I really enjoy following the stories in here, and love the MMO Report.

Phill huddy.

Blu-ray is not all useless. What makes it nice is just simply the space it provides. I hope that xbox does get blu-ray that multi-platform games would be better. In some cases multi-platform titles could be better if they weren't restricted by DVD9. Its not that its so much better. It is just a bigger disc that allows for more content and better picture quality

In the Summer blockbuster fail article, Mr. Leahy's choice is the PS3, then goes on to say how awesome the 360 is in comparison.

btw, I own both of them, I'm not defending my console of choice, I am disappointed in the inclusion of a "fanboy" to post news articles on one of my favorite sites I visit daily.

if this is true (wich i dont think so) noone is gonna get it if its purpose is to play blu ray movies,they need to make blu ray games,and if they do what will happen to all of us who allredy bought a 360 ?

if they make blu ray games for the 360 microsoft better have us send in our 360's for a free blu ray drive upgrade.

I don't care about a bluray add on for the 360 anymore. I bought a ps3 to take care of that.

I still kept my 360 for gaming. If MS is stupid enough to diss its installed base by releasing games that won't play on current models, I will become a sworn enemy to them. I am sure there will be millions like me.

In fact, I would sue them for that. And believe me, millions would join me in the fight. So, sony fanboys, STFU. A bluray add on is possible, another sku that will play games on bluray is not.

I wouldnt be surprised if this happened. Didnt the Gears of War guy say that the dvds were already jammed so full that they had a hard time with the 1st one. I hope that it does happen because then X-platform games would be better on my PS3. (In the spirit of things) My stuff wouldn't be gimped anymore because you system cant handle it. All in all I think the developers would appreciate a switch just for the extra space.

If this happened at least you would probably be able to fully use the HDMI port. 1080p instead of just 720p. Not that 720 is bad. The X box 540 would just show that MS is not afraid to flip flop or to F over all the die hards.
But dont worry we all know they love you guys more than their money.

Why can't both parties just make one console already... I mean, xbox is cool, playstation is cool, nintendo is gay. Put the three together and you have a badass console with some gay games to satisfy little kids. They would make so much money because I'm tired of having to buy xbox to play cool FPS and have fun online and then playstation to play like god of war or RPG's that are not on xbox (mainly final fantasy and metal gear). I'm too much of a diverse player to be held down by a single console. God, i just hate videogames now..

How stupid is microsoft, they need to add a freakin bluray player that plays games. They will not survive, the only thing they have going for them now is gears 2. Think what it will be like if they did decide to add the player and POSSIBly play gears 3 on blu ray?

Let me play Blu Ray games MS!! It could only get better! I'll buy a 120g HDD. Right now I'm content with my 20g...for instance with GTAIV I'm @ 23.74% complete and I'm trying 2 slow down on playing it bcuz I don't wanna finissh too soon. Then I remembered about August!! But if the original is super long tht would be 10x better...then add to the fact DLC!! So make bluray games...its the next logical choice.

you have to be kinding me. its not going to happen until microsoft confirms it. it would also be a waste of money to have just for movies even though they do look bitchin. If this happens it is a better deal for sony than anyone else especially since microsoft will be paying sony to allow them to use there technology. i dont think microsoft will pay sony to have blu-ray. microsoft is not going to cave into sony. they would try and make somthing better to outdo sony.

well i hear someone say gear of war 2 is 40gb and we have to buy a new xbox well no kid, if we want big GB we just buy one say 120 GB and snap it on no need to buy a new xbox, this brue ray thing is to sell blue ray products they both carry the same picture and sound quality (BR 1080p HD 1080p)plus to hook a ps3 to a tv aka HDtv u have to change a hole lot of things to make it work and to u people out there sayin HD is dead no they're not dead not with so many people with hd tv and receive, HD r the first one with the idea to make pictures look good i won't be surpise if they comes out with one that past 1080p and still work with all their products and its in the making so enjoy your little fame BR MICROSOFT is a very wise company
