Activision Claims Infinity Ward Only 'CoD' Rumors False

Posted April 22, 2008 - By bleahy

Following rumors that Infinity Ward had renegotiated its contract with Activision to become the sole-developer of Call of Duty games after the release of Call of Duty 5.

Call of Duty 5 will be developed by Treyarch, the developers of CoD3.

The rumors included a mention of a spin-off series that might not even be a first-person shooter. A former Activision Underground employee cited a third-person game set in the Call of Duty universe.

However, Activision has responded that these rumors are false saying only that they represent "erroneous information regarding the CoD franchise."

Looks like Activision is sticking to its plan to release a CoD game every year and they'll need Treyarch to accomplish this goal.

They've got big shoes to fill, though. Call of Duty 3 was decent, but after CoD4 they better get cracking at something incredible.

Judge for yourself.
