T-Mobile still doesn't have 3G up and running, but it hopes that a new strategy will help it catch up with the other carriers. With AT&T and Verizon heading for 4G using their new 700Mhz spectrum and Sprint betting on WiMax, T-Mobile is in danger of being left behind.
Their solution? A 3G network that also uses Wi-Fi hotspots to boost downloads and uploads primarily in the home.
That's cool and all, but what about those times when Wi-Fi isn't, you know, available? At that point, this is still just 3G and T-Mobile is still lagging behind the curve.
They are, however, considering rolling out citywide Wi-Fi in major markets, but we don't that will happen.
