Boy Changes Murder Plea to 'Hitman' Made Me Do It

Posted by Ty Colfax - Friday, April 11, 2008 11:13 AM

Jean Pierre Orlewicz of Michigan, who beheaded an acquiantence back in November when he was 17, is changing his plea from self-defense to "video games made me do it." It's a classic swerve.

The good news is the "rock music made me do it" defense has never held up and while it brings heat to the accused industry, it never really effects what gets released. Anyway, this idiot is claiming he was "under the influence of Hitman", as if it's some kind of substance.

Further damaging Orlewicz's case are a slew of witnesses who recount that before the murder happened, Orlewicz would say things like, "I want to commit a crime… and not get caught and be able to get away with it." Oh, also there was a guy who watched him do it who has already pled guilty to second-degree murder. Oh, and Jean Pierre looks like Jean Lafitte.

This guy is totally screwed and we're okay with that.

Excuses, Excuses......Dumbass

Posted by philhuddy - Friday, April 11, 2008 11:28 AM

it wont work...cuase his friend already testified that this kid only played it "a few times" and wasn't "really into video games". so that right there kinda rules out that this kid was obsessed, or even influenced by video games. The defense would have to make the case that he played so much that it was his only real source of influence, which clearly it wasnt.

I was upset when I heard he was using this defense though. WEAK!
I could come up with a better defense than that.

Which "Hitman" game has a decapitation? I can't think of one.

Decapitation! Think about it, you have to be a sick SOB to think to do that to another living being. It's not video games, rock music, or drugs that made this kid do it, he's just messed up.

Posted by used2loverhad2killer - Friday, April 11, 2008 11:39 AM

I don't know man. He might have a case here. Back in the day my cousin played the crap out of Burgertime, and now he's fat as sht.

Posted by Innovillian - Friday, April 11, 2008 11:44 AM

yea, no hitman game has decapitation. this is the kind of person who makes me so mad because of the potential for people to start blaming videogames. i for one have played all of the hitman games multiple times and it is my favorite game series ever. i work at a hospital and pay my bills. i have never thought of doing anything i have seen on a game. its not the games!!!!

Posted by Redd75 - Friday, April 11, 2008 12:01 PM

Any possibility he could have been given some money to say this?

Posted by XxGodsMistakeXx - Friday, April 11, 2008 12:16 PM

Posted by staychisel (BANNED) - Friday, April 11, 2008 12:17 PM

if you're willing to behead someone, it's more than video games making you crazy

Posted by plasticgiantcatbear - Friday, April 11, 2008 12:19 PM

I believe he should have started with an easier crime and worked his way up, given his intelligence or lack thereof. Perhaps music piracy to petty thievery to kicking toddlers at a park, for example.

Posted by sinister6972 - Friday, April 11, 2008 12:25 PM

It sucks to be you man!!! LOL!!!

Man, no wonder the shorties nowadays are crazy.....

Posted by hetman - Friday, April 11, 2008 12:41 PM

@plastic. I was thinking that to. He should have just downloades some music. He would have gotten away with it pretty easily.

I hope his cell mate uses the "Brokeback Mountain" made me do it excuse.

Posted by paranoic - Friday, April 11, 2008 1:18 PM

I don't realize how anyone can even think of hitman as an excuse for beheading someone. The government has made video games such a controversial topic. The parents are responsible for teaching him morals and the people he is influenced by. I for one have been playing violent video games since i was 7, but never in my life has a video ever made me think of committing such a nasty crime.

if you read into it, the dude led the victim into a garage that had plastic mats laid down, jumped him from behind, slit his throat, stabbed him, cut his head off with a hacksaw, threw his head in a lake and burned his body, and his friend stood there and watched him... he said he wanted to do the "perfect murder and not get caught".. yeah, okay

Posted by shmeejustice - Friday, April 11, 2008 1:52 PM

hey i blamed my hooker beating problem with GTA3 and i turned out alright ...*sigh* memories.. oh lol they tramatize so easily

Posted by zulia - Friday, April 11, 2008 1:59 PM

Posted by IN_YO_FACE - Friday, April 11, 2008 2:04 PM

HA HA HA HA HA...NOW give him the Chair.. that never blame VIdeo GAmes ever. lol

Posted by BroncosFan7 (BANNED) - Friday, April 11, 2008 2:53 PM

Man i hope the judge just throws this plea right in the trash cause if not u know there gona b more morons out there that will do this sht.

Posted by Intangible_Cog - Friday, April 11, 2008 3:07 PM

Though this fk-up is obviously NOT going to get away with murder, it WILL scathe video games further. This dumb-ass has only fueled the flames for video game haters, finger pointing parents, and politicians looking for a weak promise. It once again gives states an excuse to pass a bill that abolishes the “first amendment”; example—Arizona.

Posted by Konbust - Friday, April 11, 2008 3:51 PM

How dare he say "hitman" made him do it!Saying that won't save you kid .

Posted by Krazy_K - Friday, April 11, 2008 4:11 PM

OH MY GOD! Does no ones this days have the balls to say 'Yes I did it! Nothing influenced me. I did it with an open mind, knowing what I was doing!'

Go head, cop out to 'games/music/tv' made me do it. You'll just look like a jackass to your peers and insane to everybody else.

Posted by joeyg143 - Friday, April 11, 2008 5:40 PM

Maybe JAck Tompson payed him to say it.

Posted by blakezilla - Friday, April 11, 2008 8:31 PM

if this chump was so impressionable its a shame he wasnt playing cooking mama or something constructive. we coulda had another iron chef on our hands.
I despise excuses like this and the lawyers that push for people to say em. maybe this ho just watched that al quacka video w/ the reporters a while back.
I really want to know how no one ever notices these crazy a$$ tendencies. i think if i was the other friend and noticed a plastic lined garage SOMETHING may be up. I am not for people spying on and judging neighbors/ friends/ strangers etc but there comes a point when a duck is a duck. or in this case a dill hole is a dill hole.

Posted by blakezilla - Friday, April 11, 2008 8:48 PM

also the burgertime comment made me laugh, good one

Posted by Jack_NEzraF - Friday, April 11, 2008 9:57 PM

@ Anorexic_Panda
shut the hell up. Eating cheetos and browsing g4
all day doesn't give you the ability to anything but make you socially reclusive. He would decapitate you..... lol

Posted by SevenLeaf - Saturday, April 12, 2008 5:25 AM

This kid is a complete bunghole licker, I saw his case on TrialTV & he is screwwwwwed. This is just his last scratch at the chalk board trying to manipulate the idiots who want to believe that nobody is really bad, just badly influenced. Worrying about one game, or genre isn't going to solve anything. They have their rating system in effect, & anything after that is the parents responsibility. Give me a break, and give him to Bubba!

I think he would have had a better chance if he had said "Dexter" made me do it. ( I show I LOVE BTW).....

I would have loved it if he had said something like "Hello Kitty, Online Adventure" made me do it..lol

This reminds me of the two teenagers who brutally murdered another teenager and then blamed a popular detective magazine. This was in 1927. They were both sentenced to life.

Obviously, some things never change.

Posted by rcturbo - Sunday, June 1, 2008 12:11 PM

He must have decapitated the person BECAUSE there is no decapitation in any of the Hitman games. So the solution here is that there needs to be MORE violence in videogames, in order to satisfy the sadistic cravings of children like this, so that real people don't have to. I shoulda been a defense attorney.
