In this week's Sessler's Soapbox, Sessler is taking on Hollywood. Adam's got an issue with movie-type big wigs who prefer to blame a movie's sub-par performance on the release of a videogame instead of considering the possibility that the movie simply wasn't very good. What do you think? Do you think Halo 3 is at fault for the poor performance of The Heartbreak Kid? Will GTA IV affect Iron Man? Seeing as I won't be getting GTA4 (but still want it really bad), I might see Iron Man
But if I was gonna get it, I don't think I would be unable to put a game down for 2 hours to see Iron man.
Unless its Banjo-Kazooie 3, that will rule my life

My gods I want to see Iron Man! Still another half month to wait though :(

I couldn't care less about GTA4, so there will be nothing stopping me from seeing Iron Man (hopefully it's good enough to see a couple times).

Very good point that you're making Adam, Hollywood likes to look for excuses when their movie does bad and sucks. It actually happens with a lot of people in the world, trying to find excuses when they do something bad.

Looks like I'm on the same boat with a lot of people here. I won't be getting GTA4, will most definitely go see Ironman.

To be honest, I wasn't going to buy GTA4 or see Iron Man unless someone made me. (or I found out there was going to be at least one hot guy that was going to be at least partially nude in it.) One of those two things...

I'm definitely getting GTA IV as soon as it is released. If it becomes availible at midnight, I'll be the first in line, bitches! I'm going to see Ironman, anyway. It's only 8 bucks per ticket from where I live. Oh and The Heartbreak Kid really does sucks.

Adam as usual, got it dead on! the movie industry is in another suck period. and even if video games do steal there thunder, its only because the games are good...and the movies aren't. (although in the case of halo 3, a bad game beet out a bad-er movie.) a good film is a rarities these days. and GTA 4 is made by one of the greatest, most devoted game developers in the world. so yea i think the film industry will be effected over the next few months due to nothing but crap movies and Good games coming out at the same time. we need another 70's in film where we had young Copula's, Scorsese's etc. who where making truly great films, yet still enjoyable.

I like watching Ben Stiller...on Cable. I DO BELIEVE video games effect the OPENING WEEKEND of movies if your excited about a game you'll play it beat it, then see the movie, but if your excited and want to see a movie, you'll see it. Heartbreak kid was a romantic comedy, IRON MAN is a Marvel BLOCKBUSTER that should be Marvels newest money making franchise. You can't compare the two. I was more excited to play HALO 3 and finish the fight, and come May 2nd i'm MORE EXCITED to see IRON MAN then play the same GTAgame i've played before just with better graphics. Hell i'm excited to play the IRON MAN GAME!

I couldn't agree with Adam Sessler more,you feel me? Ben Stiller is definitely not funny,his movies suck indeed,and the majority of movies definitely suck just like the Ironman movie will also SUCK too,you feel me? The only reason i won't be playing GTA4 on April 29th is because i am not rich,you feel me?

Adam, You're right. I really wouldn't be too worried about them postponing the iron man movie. If they really do postpone it then I will be smacking my forehead, but GTA4 will help me cope. :D

I don't even recall hearing about Heartbreak Kid, and it sounds like with good reason. I can remember when I was in high school my friends and I would pay for one movie and then hop in and see 2-3 mo' after that. Now I'm lucky if I want to go see 1! Iron Man will be seen by myself on opening day and I'll still find time for GTA4. Also cannot wait for 420.

Ironman will do fine because it looks awesome. The Heartbreak Kid did bad cuz it got bad reviews, looked terrible and by the time it came out everyone was done with Ben Stiller.

I think Marvel was scared because of GTA's knack of stealing things :p.

Well maybe they have some cause for concern because their target audience may be lured to their game instead of Marvel's movie. Sounds like a channel I know...*looks at Neal Tiles*

this is ridiculous. the reason why box office ticket sales are so low is because their prices are so high. not to mention the fact that jon favreau is an actor and not a director and robert downey jr is a small man. this movie is going to do mediocre 50 mil just like the rest of the adapts because what hollywood fails to realize is that these sepearate mediums are their own mediums for a reason. you cant cross mediums. besides the movie is written directed and acted by old people who are completely out of touch with our generation so how could they even possibly hit the mark that were looking for?

Damn! I still have yet to see Iron Man. However, although I have already played (mostly seen played) GTA4, if things were simpler, I would save my money for Iron Man on DVD before buying GTA4. Plus, I'm a competitor and no GTA game is meant to be played competitively (NO! The versus multiplayer does not count. There is no way to play this game on split-screen or system link, my personal favorite. If competitions like MLG were to add this game, it would be impossible because their events involve the competitors compete in person.)
