'Bill & Ted' Getting A Remake

Posted by Mike D'Alonzo - Thursday, April 03, 2008 11:05 AM

We were stoked to find out that there was going to be a new Bill & Ted movie, thinking that Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter would totally rock it as middle-aged Bill and Ted, but we are dismayed to learn that what's actually happening is another remake, this time updating the not-terribly-in-need-of-an-update Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure.

The only changes we know anything about relate to the change of the phone booth to something "more funky," and an updating of the characters who will be part of their school presentation will include Gandhi and Calamity Jane. Won't that be fun? We can only image the 'irreverent' jokes about Gandhi needing to eat that will be in it!

Pffft.

Oh God, no! I love Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure and Bogus Journey but a remake is just cruel.

Mike D'Alonzo, April Fools Day was on Tuesday. You're a couple days late...

...wait, what? This is a real story? They're actually remaking Bill & Ted? Studio execs thought that this "franchise" needed to be remade?

Oh, my head hurts. This may be as idiotic as Ridley Scott working on Monopoly: The Movie. What's next: Joel Schumacher back at the helm of the Batman franchise? Gus Van Sant doing another shot-for-shot remake of a Hitchcock film?

It's stories like this that has made this once avid film viewer avoid the theatres all together...

WTF!
The first one is a classic...sort of.

Weather or not you love or hate bill and ted. On the list of movies to REMAKE I would say that would be bottom of the barrel (and I do love Excellent adventure). It's probley a ploy to add nudity and Drugs to it...like dukes of hazard.

This is an outrage. Remaking Bill and Ted is like trying to copy the Mona Lisa. It cannot be done the first 1 is to perfect to every be recreated.

Yet another example at how out of touch studio execs are.

DOGGAMNIT!!! Enough of the remakes!

It's official: My childhood is now a joke. Are they seriously considering this? And ditching the phonebooth for something "more funky"?? Let me guess: Instead of a phonebooth(who uses those anymore?), they're going to use a time-traveling iPhone!! Oh, Ted will be played by Justin Long (the Mac guy!) and Bill will be played by Mike Vogal who was Robert in "Cloverfield"! But George Carlin will reprise his role as Rufus because Carlin can never die. I can sense an Oscar already!

Posted by Warheart1188 - Thursday, April 03, 2008 12:49 PM
Oh and here's the list of dead guys they'll bring back: Ronald Reagan, Kurt Coabin, Elvis Presley, Aristotle, Saddam Hussein, and James Brown.

Why take one of the worlds best classics and taking a gigantic crap all over it pleas dont do this so many movies are doing this were they remake a classic. why does it seem like theres no one who can make a classic film on there own with out ripping every good thing from movies that made them great there just seems to be nothing original on the market these days and its starting to piss me off.....=(

I think a bill and ted's remake ism't a good idea simply because of the story line, it doesn't need to be retold. Wyld Stallyns end up saving the world with their music so what would be the premise of the new movie?...Here's a summary..

The two "other" excellent ones have to pass history..again. Rufus comes down in a giant cell phone where they travel the circuits of time (via broadband, of course) get the historical figures back in time for their history report. Expect alot of product placement from phone and/or food companies as well.

Iv seen it twice and I liked it but I still think this one will be better just because of it being better looking and haveing better effects in the movie. but over all I think it gets ( 7out of 10 )

Posted by LostBelmont - Thursday, April 03, 2008 2:40 PM
they are destined to flunk most egregiously

Posted by coolhandchris - Thursday, April 03, 2008 5:04 PM
Thats most bogus! But seriously this sucks. I wont go see this.

Posted by yoshiarecool - Thursday, April 03, 2008 5:15 PM
Okay, you've really sunk low enough hollywood that you're remaking Bill and Ted
Wow, anymore and you'll be drifting in space

Posted by marofox - Thursday, April 03, 2008 5:57 PM
Good God, was the 80s that long ago? Is Hollywood really THIS devoid of creativity? I'm shocked beyond words at how much potential fail this movie already is. I wonder what great comedy they'll take a dump on next (my money is on Wayne's World).

Posted by mijebra1 - Thursday, April 03, 2008 7:45 PM
I would like to see middle aged bill and ted though. Wild Stallions!

Posted by fragglerock66 - Friday, April 04, 2008 4:16 AM
I also think Keanu Reeves probably won't be making an appearance since he's spent most of his career trying to shake that "california dude" image. Besides, what role would he play.. The father?
If they had any good sense, Reeves and Winter would stay away from this project maybe make a cameo.. but who knows right, money talks.

whats next the chucky franchise.....oops shouldn't had said that. This Halloween "Chucky Begins" voiced by j1m carrey.

Posted by DrRotwang - Friday, April 04, 2008 11:30 AM
Well...a remake of "Bill & Ted" isn't exactly guaranteed to be bad *just because* it's a remake of "Bill & Ted", but...well...

...it is kind of unnecessary. I mean, like, why?

Posted by Punishernation - Friday, April 04, 2008 12:01 PM
Yeah, and I also heard that its going to have a hip-hop twist. Why is it that everythings gotta be converted to hip hop? Rap sucks and anyone that likes it and listens to is as ignorant and uneducated as the filthy knuckle dragging savage subhuman pieces of filth that make it. The spooks have their BET and their own nigsploitation movies. Leave our white entertainment the hell alone! Bill and Ted are rockers, not a couple of crack smokin' porch monkeys. What now? Are they going to change the phonebooth to a giant 40 oz. bottle? Maybe the part of Rufus will be played by .5o.....excuse me....FIDDY Cent. STOP TRYING TO AFRICANIZE EVERYTHING!!!!!!
