A new study by psychologists at Middlesex University massively contradicts the views of game-haters everywhere. The research shows that playing violent games relaxes people.
The subjects, 292 male and female World of Warcraft players, were more likely to report feeling feel calm or tired after playing.
“There were actually higher levels of relaxation before and after playing the game as opposed to experiencing anger but this did very much depend on personality type,” said Middlesex University’s Jane Barnett. “This will help us to develop an emotion and gaming questionnaire to help distinguish the type of gamer who is likely to transfer their online aggression into everyday life.”
