Infinity Ward, on the eve of releasing their first pack of DLC maps, is talking statistics. Apparently, 1.3 million gamers log on to Call of Duty 4 each day and that's just on the Xbox 360.
Xbox Live allows them to accurately track the number of gamers, but that number alone is beating Halo 3. Throw in PS3 and PC gamers and CoD4 is ridiculously popular:
"That's just 360. There's even more on the other platforms [PS3 and PC], but we just don't have the same numbering system. Overall, even without the other consoles, we are beating the competition. PS3 numbers are monstrously huge. No other game has come close, either online current, or total unique users in a day."
