Ok, I admit it. When we ran the story the other day wherein Star Wars fans threatened to boycott Weinstein Co. films unless the original version of Fanboys made it to the theater, I was skeptical of their ability to do anything but look stupid. Boy, was I wrong. Looks like Weinstein will bow to geek pressure and release both versions of the film, after all.
For those who might need catching up, the story revolves around a group of geeks that bring their friend with cancer to Skywalker Ranch to see Episode 1 - The Phantom Menace in 1999. The controversy revolves around the fact that the studio cut most of the cancer patient out of the film, to try and sanitize it. Good to see they're doing right by the fans.
