Futurama Plans Revealed

Posted by Ty Colfax - Friday, March 21, 2008 1:16 PM

In case you've been living in deep space for the past few months, you've missed that Futurama still has life as Groening and Cohen are still collaborating on a lengthy movie  series, that will be, for now, straight to video and straight to Comedy Central in installments.

The second film, The Beast with a Billion Backs, will be available for purchase in June and the first one, Bender's Big Score, will be happening in installments on Comedy Central later this month.

Katy Sagal's imdb reveals the titles and timeline for the next few films as well:

# Futurama: Into the Wild Green Yonder (2009) (V) (post-production) (voice) .... Leela
# Futurama: Bender's Game (2008) (V) (post-production) (voice) .... Leela
# Futurama: The Beast with a Billion Backs (2008) (V) (voice) .... Leela
# Futurama: Bender's Big Score (2007) (V) (voice) .... Turanga Leela

We are so excited here at TheFeed that this fantastic series has been revived. We will watch it all.

i think w/ the right cast and director a live-action futurama movie would work pretty well. it wouldn't be to hard to use cgi to create the New New York. although to much cgi would ruin it, the movie would need a live-action Bender and Dr. Zoidberg.

no way. see: super mario brothers movie

I would hate to see a live-action Futurama movie. That said, Zach Braff would HAVE to play Fry.

Futurama, Arrested Development, Space Ghost C2C,and countless other shows that contributed to a smarter, though more cynical, demographic are being cutoff at their prime.
Also, we need new Code Monkeys.

Posted by Mega_X - Friday, March 21, 2008 3:21 PM
Yeah, when are we going to get more code monkeys.

Posted by Oinkness - Friday, March 21, 2008 3:30 PM
deathsdelivery lost all credibility after that code monkeys comment

code monkeys is the suck. epic failure

As for Futurama, Bender's Big Score was great on DVD. They're playing the whole thing this SUNDAY on Comedy Central, which the article failed to mentioned most-likely due to ignorance.

Booyeah

bite my shiny metal ass

By far my favorite prime time animated series of all time. Great mix of high and low-brough humor, beautiful animation, great voice acting, cleaver writing, and just a good atmosphere.

Oh my, yes.

Futurama is the greatest, but I don't like watching it on Comedy Central.
I'm very partial to Adult Swim

Cool. Futurama is kickass. I gotta watch it more often.

@thaiguy333
Yeah. Leela definitely is. Too bad she's not real. Of course, it would take about a year or 2 to get used to her big eye.

"Bender's Game", lol.

@chinkilla666
I'm with you. I don't think Comedy Central should have Futurama, since they'll just phase it out like all of their other cult favorites like Strangers With Candy and the Upright Citizens Brigade. The only channels/programs that I trust in bringing Futurama to its rightful audience are Adult Swim (who were responsible for the series' resurrection in the first place) and G4 (as long as they don't put it in the same block as the Jamie Kennedy Experiment or COPS) Also, it would be awesome if G4 bought the rights to airing Futurama and put it in a "Fox Cancellation Block" with Arrested Development.

futurama was canned because of ratings, its hard to get raitings when it started at 7 or 730 pm and was allways delayed because of football!!, i love football but fox still hasnt learned much, every time a game is over they still have about 20 min of commercials and post games crap then they return to normal programing! thats whats killed alot of fox shows

Best. Show. Ever.

Amy is my girlfriend.

Whats up with G4 running all the crap non tech shows like Jamie Kennedy, Cops, and Cheaters? Ninja Warrior and Banzuke are straight but that product fun show is pretty gay. Attack, X-play, and Code Monkeys are the only original shows. I like how Tech TV used to be all tech and game based.

Anyhow, Futurama is the sh...
