'Rock Band' Store Going Live

Posted by Stephen Johnson - Thursday, March 20, 2008 7:55 AM

Multi-instrumental rock and/or roll simulator Rock Band is getting an update this week, and it's huge.

  • Rock Band Music Store: The PSN and Live Arcade interfaces don't really work for serving the amount of Rock Band content that's avaialbe, and with weekly updates to continue, a Rock Band-specific interface is needed. Improvments include the ability to organize songs any way you want--including by difficulty--album artwork, and, most importantly, the ability to preview songs before you buy 'em.
  • Faster Song Loading: Less waiting around while "loading additional content."
  • Pop Cap raised: Maximum number of fans for easier difficulties increased.
  • Less Repitition: Less repeated songs in World Tour. So, just maybe, Run to the Hills won't come up every 5 songs or so.
  • Improved Vocals: They've worked on the detection of sounds, particulary on the spoken parts of songs.
  • Microphone latency improved: More accurate vocals.
  • Band Logos visible on Live.
  • In-Game text: small improvements made to in-game text.

Look for the update soon.

Finally I can preview songs before I buy them! Right now I look for the preview on itunes and that is such a hassle to go back and forth.

FINALLY! A much needed update for this game. Now for them to release better DLC, and everything will be near perfect

It always amazes me to think how far things have come in gaming. A game comes out with a few flaws and instead of us having to wait for the next version of the franchise we get DLC. It's crazy that actual game mechanics can be repaired too, imagine how different N64 games would have been if clipping issues had been repairable after release.

Just sort of makes games like Turok and Lair have no excuse. We live in a blessed time for gaming.
