Disney Announces 'Ultimate Band'

Nintendo system owners who like collaborative music games get the shaft. Sure, you can enjoy Guitar Hero 3 on the Wii, but not Rock Band (yet.)

Luckily, Disney Interactive is filling the music game void for Wii owners with the release of Ultimate Band!

Disney says they're working with some of the "very biggest names in rock, alternative, popular, emo and indie rock music," to allow band mates to play sets from a broad selection of current hits and all-time rock favorites, and promises the oppurtunity to rock out on guitar, bass, drums or as the front man.

This game does not require extra peripherals, so we asked Disney about the "front man" part. According to their spokesperson, the game's front man/woman doesn't sing as much as pump up the crowd with dances, waves, and more. We hope Elvis style hip shakin' action and stage-dives off the Ottoman earn big points.

The game comes out during the 2008 holiday season for the DS and the Wii.
