A few weeks ago, warranty provider SquareTrade claimed that Xbox 360 failure rates were at 16%, much higher than Microsoft's claim.
Now, they've released their numbers and we're going to show them to you. Get ready!
These numbers come from "171 claims made on a sample group of 1040 Xbox 360 warranties purchased between April 1 and July 31, 2007."
The console breakdown is as follows:
• 27 Elites
• 57 Cores
• 956 Premiums
Of the 171 claims, 102 were due to the Red Ring of Death. They note that this number could have been lowered by Microsoft's warranty extension leading warranty holders to go to Microsoft and not SquareTrade.
They also noticed a spike in Red Rings at 3 months of ownership and then a slight drop-off over the next 5 months.
