Google's X-Prize is $30 million for the team that can send a rocket to the moon and deploy a rover that can survey the surface. The first 10 teams have been detailed in a piece at Wired.
They are an eclectic bunch and you should give it a read. Included in the team is Carnegie Mellon's (go Tartans!) team that won the DARPA challenge earlier and a Linux developer.
