Epic Games revealed some details on upcoming blockbuster sequel Gears of War 2. Check them out:
- Epic saga: Gears of War 2 continues the story of Marcus Fenix and Delta Squad, locked in an increasingly desperate battle against the nightmarish Locust Horde for the survival of humanity. Gears of War 2 is an epic saga of survival, loss, and retribution.
- Technological advances: Gears of War set the standard for high-definition visuals and became the game to which all others are compared. Gears of War 2 raises the bar even further with the amazing technological advances of Unreal Engine 3.
- Xbox 360 exclusive: Gears of War 2 is developed by Epic Games for Microsoft Game Studios and joins a growing list of must-have Xbox 360® exclusives. Look for Gears of War 2 when it storms onto retail shelves this November.
Okay. Not surprising details exactly, but they are official. Epic goes on to remind you: "The information contained in this fact sheet relates to a prerelease product that may be substantially modified before its first commercial release."

And how do you continue a story that didn't exist? The first game was all "It's the TRAIN, baby!" and burly men squinting at everything. If they actually make a story I'll be happy, but I'm not going to count on it.

I don't think I have seen any war games with blue sky, beautiful bright sunshine and with lots of mulit color flowers all over the place. Hate to tell all you gears haters that MGS4 is just as 2 tone and fall of man same thing. It's just more believable world like that.

And to everybody whining about the first game's lack of story, the game itself has a pretty good backstory, it's just that it was not that well integrated into the game itself. As I've already admitted, they should work on this for the next game. Last time, the backstory was incorporated into other mediums such as art books and the internet. In the game itself, backstory was implied rather than openly stated, thus not breaking the grim mood of the game. Basically what I'm trying to say is that there was a story, you whiners just didn't look for it.
The "trailer" has zero game play footage. For a game that is six months away from being "released" and it has no game play footage? Not only that, but the official details about the game are so vague, those same things could be written about any game.
I am a HUGE gears fan. And I am looking for this game as much as anyone else, but I really hope microsoft is forcing epic to rush a sequel. I dont care if it doesnt come out till September of next year, I just want another great game. I dont want a rushed out piece of crap that only exists cause Sony has a little bit of buzz around their games right now, and the XBox is looking for something for someone to talk about.

WW2 has been played out. I don't think there is a single half-second of WW2 that WW2 shooters haven't covered.

Gears of War will go the way of Halo. The first one is groundbreaking, the second one is improving on the first one, and the third one is incredibly overhyped with a few changes to how stuff works. Just wait and see. You'll figure it out. Years from now, after the third Gears is released, people will be saying "Oh it was so overhyped and such a disappointment." You should listen now, and take my words to heart.

jealous? hater? where did you get that? i didn't say anything negative about gears2. i said i would like to play it but i'm not spending $500 to play it. i'll wait until it comes to pc...like all the other 360 games.
