3D Realms Nixes 'Duke' Rumors

Ooops... yesterday, we reported that Duke Nukem Forever would be out in 2008. We might be proved wrong. Not our fault though! Our source was mainstream newspaper Dallas Business Journal, but it turns out, according to 3D Realms’ Scott Miller, the 2008 release date, like The Cake, is a lie.

“Quite simply, they are lying bastards and they know it,” Miller wrote.

"In what appears to be an unfortunate turn of events, there seems to have been some confusion between what was 'off the record' and what was not. I suppose we're used to dealing with gaming press and not mainstream press. Lesson learned.

"While we have internal targets, dates and goals, like every developer, we are not ready to share them. What's amazing about this is that the DBJ must have assumed that we'd actually announce a date to them, and not gaming press, and that even in the light of Scott's quote of "We can't make an official announcement.", the DBJ effectively did that. Lesson learned."

The release date is: When it's done.

at this point, i'm sure that they aren't even working on it anymore. they are just dropping hints here and there as a running gag.

They are just putting random stuff together so naive investors will keep giving them money even though they never get anywhere with the game.
Ok, that may be harsh, but their track record does not particularly inspire trust.

This game is such a joke, and so is 3D realms. I really wish people would blow off the game, if it ever does come out, just to make the point that "if you act unprofessional we won't be interested in your game".

I can't wait for this game to get released and turn out to be a huge steaming turd. That would be cosmic justice.

At least the weighted companion cube will never jerk me around...or threaten to stab me.

3DRealms can't be taken seriously in regards to Duke anymore anyway. They think they still have integrity in this?

Duke Nukem Forever is a joke, and we all know it, but hope that it's decent, so they don't get laughed at like Romero did after Daikatana.

And fanboys have nothing to do with DNF, don't even bring that whole idiotic debate here.

seein as tho there both for the ps3 and microsoft fanboys dont have a ps3 its only natural that seeing as though the question was which are you most excited for obviously theyd be more excited for the one on the 360. Also who cares its a poll. However i still think duke nukem forever will forever be in development.

I own a 360 and voted for DNF, but I also played and liked RFoM and the first Killzone. It's just that I have been waiting for over 10 years to play DNF.

At one point I was very excited about this game .... now I could give a rats ass I loved nuke back in the day but by the time if this game comes out it won't be wort a hill of beans their hardware and software the engine of this game must be old by now !!! I won't buy it for 60 $$ thats for sure maybe when it gets down to 20 or 30 thats a big MAYBE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I will still play it when it is released. I want to see how they make him in todays graphical world. They never should have mentioned a thing until they had the entire game done. That way if anyone had a problem with it, too late. I hope if and when the game is released, it pisses off everyone it can. More sex, more strippers, more raunchy jokes about religion, sex, momma, ect. They better make this game so offensive, that even hardcore Duke fans will go, "Wow that might have been too far." I will still play it. Long live DUKE!!

These guys are the "Uwe Boll" of videogaming. The only difference is that Uwe Boll's nonsense actually gets finished.... and is somewhat enjoyable. :-)
