Xbox 360 Laptop is Very Elite

Posted by Brian Leahy - Monday, February 04, 2008 10:26 AM

The biggest problem with the Xbox 360 is the red ring of death lack of portability. We can't count the number of times we'd like to take our 360s on the go without all the hassle of packing it up and finding a TV wherever we end up going.

Well Ben Heckendorn has solved this problem by using his magical hacking powers to create an Xbox 360 Elite laptop. The unit contains an Elite, the Xbox Live Vision Camera, and a screen all in a closing laptop form-factor.

The power supply remains external, but we can't blame him for not making that internal; it's huge.

Check out this video (complete with BioShock-style intro) that will school you to Ben's mastery.

@thefeed

You may have fixed it now but the reason no one has been leaving comments is because Thefeed is or was broken.

Microsoft should seriously consider marketing something like this, maybe not above all their other systems, but I like the idea

Sexy just really damn hot. I had a dream that involved Olivia, Layla myself and this laptop. It was better than a Victoria secret party.

Damn. That's genius! Now if only Microsoft would team up with him and sell the 360 laptops, that would put us all in paradise.

Reminds me of back in the day when some people made PSPs out of the original playstation, and then later the ps2.

It'll probably burn your balls off if you actually put it on your lap.

Yea, I'd like to see what he used for the cooling mechanism. Even with an Elite it gets pretty hot...scalding the boys wouldn't be any fun.

This is about the best thing I have seen in the hardware side of console world in some time. I would so buy this. I travel to see family all the time and drag my 360 with me for the kids to play. I think this would be a great device if it included a few things:

1:Power; AC outlet/battery/car charger modes.

2:video; I love the onboard video, but I would love to see ext. jacks for connecting it at home.

3:Audio; I would love to see all the sound able to be sent to the wireless headsets so that the kids are able to play while the sound is turned down for the rest of us.

If M$ would talk with this guy and make this product in large numbers, I am thinking every dad would get one for the kids (and himself too) so that road trips are a go. After all, have you seen the sales of build in/hand held video players.

The sad thing is that M$ will watch this, make one, then tell this guy he is lucky M$ does not sue him for altering there product.
