CES 2008: Netgear Gaming Router

There are probably at least fifty Wi-Fi devices in your house and we’re willing to bet that at least one of them is a gaming console. You’re a bandwidth hog. Don’t be embarrassed, there’s no shame in your game, except when the games you play on Xbox Live or the PlayStation Network get lagged down because of your weak home network. Enter Netgear with a high speed solution for all of you gamers, the Netgear Gaming Router. Game on!

I wouldnt give a netgear product to my worst enemy. WHO CARES about netgear. They are completely done out of India now with tech support that confuses you more then helps you. PLEASE dont ever support a product not made in the USA

I can't put into context how stupid of an idea this is. In theory it's a great idea, but no this product. The was some thing exactly like this resealed a couple years back. On top of that, $250! That's as much as a Wii, 360, and possibly a PS3 in the upcoming future. Paying for a device that costs as much as your console just for a little, I mean little, faster connection is ridiculous. A wireless router can run you around $100. I have one registered with my PS3 and I never have any issues... EVER! Paying for some thing like this is a complete waste of what could get you 4,5, or even 6 games. In theory good, but really... rubbish.

and the sad part is that my pos RCA router/wifi works fine with 3 360s and a ps3 + like 4 pcs going at once and it was free with our Road Runner service ( we have killed a few but still)

My router cost 40 bucks and it does a great job. I never have any speed issues. This is for people who just want to waste money and brag to their friends.

What a crock of crap I have a Linksys Wrt54G. This work really well. I wired up my house with cat 5e so I'm not using wireless. However on my PC I still can't get Command and Conquer the first decade to work online (Can't connect to Generals online )??? any one else have this issue ?? as far as the Xbox 360 goes I have never had a problem with connection.

I had to register and leave a comment. Buying this has nothing to do with bragging!If you are the only serious bandwidth hog in your house, then one little router is just fine.
In my house, I do my daily work on the Internet, work on my PhD, have a serious 15yo XBOX gamer, and a 10yo gamer too! I am yelling to tell them to get off! Lose connection or too much bandwidth is used. Already have an older N router, great for a one PC and game console house but a two story house, 2 laptops, and one PC, 2 printers, and 2 gaming consoles means more powerful router!
Not everyone over 30 just looks up email at home, some of use are serious Internet hogs on our own losing the net means losing money!
2 units means no ugly long green cords running down the hall, and it means a bridging system, plus can use with my HDTV.
Thank you for the review, it along with Popular Science, and other awards has helped me decide to go with this system.
