Pirate MMO Launches Today

Posted January 22, 2008 - By Patrick Roche-Sowa

After much ho-humming and land-lubbering, Pirates of the Burning Sea finally launches today. Sony Online Entertainment is finally releasing the first of a handful of pirate-themed MMOs, and for just under 50 dollars for the game and 15 bucks a month in subscription fees, you too can pillage the open ocean until your heart's content.

Players start by joining the French, Spanish, English or Pirate nations as a naval office, freetrader, privateer, or pirate. From there the Caribbean is yours; engage in ship to ship naval battles, swashbuckle in group sword fighting, salvage a ghost ship, or cleanse an island of a zombie infection. You know, the usual weekend activities.

Buy the retail disc, or download the program from direct2drive or station.com and let us know how the sea water treats your sensitive skin.
