Fight Club…The Musical?

Posted by Frank Meyer - Thursday, January 10, 2008 11:08 AM

David Fincher’s 1999 flick Fight Club is the next film to get turned into a…Broadway musical?!?!?

Yup, following the footsteps of Hairspray, The Producers, and Monty Python’s Holy Grail, Fight Club is slated to get a theatrical makeover for 2009, a decade after the film’s original release.

Fight Club author Chuck Palahniuk has agreed to jump on board, Fincher is in, and Trent Reznor expressed interest in developing the music.

What’s next? Terminator: The Musical? Bourne Identity On Ice?

Pastemagazine.com: FIGHT CLUB musical in development, Trent Reznor may be involved

If Chuck Palahniuk and trent reznor is down with it so am I. It doesnt hurt that fight club the book is one of my favorite books of all time. The movie is good, but it doesnt really give a good sense of the drastic terrosim that project mayhem actually causes.

If it were just the film and book rights being used to create a musical, I would be concerned. The saving grace to me however is the fact that Trent Reznor's name is attached. This is going to be a HUGE challenge for all involved, and a Fight Club musical is much more likely to fail than succeed (Lord of the Rings: The Musical is a prime example of a risky project failing horribly). If they do succeed, however, it could be one of the most amazing shows ever produced.

I hereby demand a song titled "Jack's Smirking Revenge" (my Steam handle). I'm sure Trent can cook up something the likes of which Broadway has never heard before.

Wow, that sounds kind of lame. But who knows, Evil Dead the musical sounded boring, but supposebly it was really good.

But I have one question, whats with the pic of all the naked guys?

I'm sure a bunch of people who never saw Fight Club are going to be excited about this.

Lol, if there would be "Bourne Identity On Ice," then we will face hell. I don't think Jason Borune is meant to figure skate with a gun, lol.

BTW, that picture with a bunch of guys, gayyy.

I don't think it could get any farther from the point of Fight Club than a Broadway musical. Maybe a breakfast cereal is next?
