Hayden Christensen Is The Neuromancer?

Posted by Frank Meyer - Wednesday, January 09, 2008 10:44 AM

Hayden “Darth Vader” Christensen is being courted to star in the big screen adaptation of William Gibson's 1984 cyberpunk novel Neuromancer.

The flick is said to be as a $70 million independent production that would find Christensen cast as Case, “a talented hacker whose poisoned nervous system reduces him to hustling Japan's dystopian streets before he gets the offer of his lifetime.”

Presumably to romance neuros.

Along with Blade Runner, Neuromancer is often heralded for exploring topics like of artificial intelligence, cyberspace, virtual reality and technology overkill way before these subjects became an part of modern culture.

Sadly, Torque director Joseph Kahn will helm the otherwise cool sounding project.

Hollywood loves to ruin great books. First of Christensen cannot act. He completly ruined one of the greatest bad guys of all time. Secondly Joseph Kahn could not direct himself out of a paper bag. He is so horrible. Torque what can I say about that movie that has not been said about feces since the beggining of time. It stinks and you do not want to go near it. Nuff said.

If he could actually act, he would be a huge star in hollywood, the next Orlando Bloom....unfortunately, he can't act. At all. He can learn, but based on his Star Wars expereience...that's going to take a long long time.

And it'll be a lot of ruined movies on his way to becoming a good actor. Maybe we should just introduce him to the Producer of the worst movies in the world, Jennifer Lopez. They'd make a great team.

My girlfriend was all like "Hey, you want to see "awake"? It has Jessica Alba." And I said, "No, it has Haden in it. The movie would need 5 Jesica Alba's to look at to ignore the whiney acting that is Haden"

To those knocking Hayden's acting solely on the basis of the Star Wars films: All the performances in that trilogy sucked. Given that there were established good actors in there (Natalie Portman, Liam Neeson, Ewan MacGregor), this should be a hint that the problem wasn't the acting so much as the directing. I place all blame for poor performances in those movies squarely at the feet of George Lucas. Hayden did a much better job in Shattered Glass, but that's a movie about the news business and the only people who saw it were people who are, or were, in the news business.

The problem here is that I saw enough of Torque to know that it sucked, so Hayden getting good direction for this movie probably won't happen. So yeah, it's probably still going to be lame.

I've been wanting a "Neuromancer" movie since...uh...1991. So consider my panties to be in a bunch.

I hope it turns out OK.
