Pip, pip, England. Jolly good show and all that stereotypical Brit-speak: The United Kingdom may soon allow you to do what you want to your music.
The U.K. currently does not allow CD rips, but a recommendation from Lord Triesman, Minister for Intellectual Property, may change that by allowing format-shifting for personal or private use.
The next step toward the idea becoming a law: Triesman will seeks comments from the public and from corporate stakeholders on the idea, run it up the flagpole and see who say "huzzah!"
Hopefully the Queen will say "Rath-ER!" at some point in the debate.
