U.K. To Legalize CD Rips?

'Ello 'Ello, whuts all this then?

Pip, pip, England. Jolly good show and all that stereotypical Brit-speak: The United Kingdom may soon allow you to do what you want to your music.

The U.K. currently does not allow CD rips, but a recommendation from Lord Triesman, Minister for Intellectual Property, may change that by allowing format-shifting for personal or private use.

The next step toward the idea becoming a law: Triesman will seeks comments from the public and from corporate stakeholders on the idea, run it up the flagpole and see who say "huzzah!"

Hopefully the Queen will say "Rath-ER!" at some point in the debate.
