According to Next Generation, Chicago-based Midway Games is in talks with SCi/Eidos, the company behind the Tomb Raider and Hitman series, about the possibility of a merger. Neither publisher has commented on the rumor as of yet, so we’ll have to take a wait-and-see approach to the deal.
SCi has been forthcoming in recent months that it’s listening to offers for the company and, following the merger of Activision and Blizzard and EA’s consumption of Bioware and Pandemic, acquiring the European publisher would allow the struggling Midway to keep pace with the industry trend toward consolidation.
TheFeed’s savvy financial analysts are bullish on the proposed merger and have already begun optimistically counting down to the release of Tomb Raider: Lake Effect.
