The rumors that Metal Gear Solid 4 is going multi-platform have been swirling around the internet since the mid 1940s, but, according to Konami, it's just not going to happen. The game will be playable only by Sony fans.
A Konami spokesperson told thegamereviews.com: "For the record, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is a PlayStation 3 exclusive and there are no plans to develop an Xbox 360 version of the game."
But still, it could happen, right? In other words, while it's highly unlikely that MGS 4 will come out on the 360, it's still physically possible, and in an infinite Universe, anything that isn't impossible is happening right now, has always happened and will continue to happen, so we are forced to conclude that Metal Gear Solid 4 has always been available on the 360.
We're playing it right now on the 360 in our imagination, and it's awesome!

Metal Gear Solid is a love it or hate it series and I personally can't stand it so meh.
While you have gained inasmuch of respect from me as I give, I must say that you are wrong. PARTIALLY. It will sell systems, as people wanting to play this game will have to buy a PS3 to do so. However, due to the audience of this game franchise (which has increased with every installment), the PS3 sales will not go from good to fantastic. This may be due in part to the low price of the 360, and will also be contributed to the many people that anticipated this and bought the PS3 ahead of time.
In case you haven't noticed, this is MGS4, not MGS2. And I believe that MGS2 was also an exclusive. But thanks to Remote Play, you should also be able to play this on your PSP.

I know it's possible to install foreign operating systems on the PS3. So if I were to install XP on a PS3 and, using a hardware emulator, I could, in theory at least, play PC games too? Has anybody else ever had that thought?

I think MGS will drive some sales for the PS3. I agree with some of the other comments that it won't drive them to the extent that Halo 3 did or the Wii's family-friendly concept did. I don't don't think that SMG drove sales of that system more than families thought they could do it together. Hence the casual and first-time gamers associated with the Wii...

I saw those numbers today for the first time too! Its great that the PS3 is outselling the 360 now. I dont think that will change for awhile. Hell even the PS2 is outselling the 360. Its about time people are starting to recognize the superior system.

Sony does not put a big gap between gamers and developers, 50 megs is the limit on live, there is no limit on PSN, developers are taking their time with PS3 games to see what their imagination can come up with, due to the freedom Sony gives them.

But about MGS4, I really don't care about it not being on the 360. You see, I like my stories to actually make sense. I also like to play my games, not watch cutscenes for 20 minutes. I also like realistic stealth games, where I actually have to think about what I'm doing, not hide in a cardboard box.

What does the PS3 have? Resistance, warhawk and Drakes fortune. that's it. With Lair and Heavenly sword not being up to par thats the only reason to get a PS3 at this point.

As for developers leaning towards sony, name some, because I have yet to hear of any. In fact I've heard multiple times that the PS3 development tools are harder than 360's, which is why shared titles like GRAW and Rainbow Six Vegas don't translate well. If you dont believe me on that one, check out the reviews shared titles.

360 had a year headstart and was overtaken by the wii. PS3 cost the more and it still beat out the 360 numbers in head to head and far as the first year goes and it is helping to destroy HD DVD where every you see a loss its not for the Playstation brand. 360 keeps reienventing their system to keep up with the PS3. the only limiting factor for the PS3 is the programmers and they are comming along in a strong fashion. 08 is the year. a more affordable sku, daulshock 3, home, and a more impressive PSN showing. Sony lost the exclusives because the 360 was being released a year earlier. It was a business venture on the part of those companies.

The PSOne had MANY MANY MANY garbage games. Majority of N64 games were FAR FAR better than the trash from the PSOne.

As for shared titles running smoother on the PS3, no, not really. go read the reviews for the shared titles. most will say that the graphics actually look worse. If you want some examples go to gamespy and read their reviews for rainbow six and the orange box if you want some examples.
And once again, what developers are you talking about? you have yet to name any. And what freedom are you talking about? you know as well as I do that sony will regulate it's content just as much as ms does because it doesn't want kids downloading inappropriate content.
Go read the thread a couple postings up about the Xbox Ultimate. G4, a better authority on all things gaming, is saying that this new Xbox would have the power of a PS3.

The 360's version has been ready MONTHS ago. Rockstar had to delay for several months because the PS3 version is crap. So now, instead of developing the sequel to GTA4 or another great game, they have to waste time and money trying to make the PS3's version to come close to the 360s.
