Once And For All: No 'MGS 4' For 360

The rumors that Metal Gear Solid 4 is going multi-platform have been swirling around the internet since the mid 1940s, but, according to Konami, it's just not going to happen. The game will be playable only by Sony fans.

A Konami spokesperson told thegamereviews.com:  "For the record, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is a PlayStation 3 exclusive and there are no plans to develop an Xbox 360 version of the game."

But still, it could happen, right? In other words, while it's highly unlikely that MGS 4 will come out on the 360, it's still physically possible, and in an infinite Universe, anything that isn't impossible is happening right now, has always happened and will continue to happen, so we are forced to conclude that Metal Gear Solid 4 has always been available on the 360.

We're playing it right now on the 360 in our imagination, and it's awesome!

MSG4 may be a great game but it is not a system seller. It does not have the mass appeal that games like Halo and SMG have.

That cracked me up for no apparent reason. The whole 1940s reference was a great one. And MGS is a system seller. It was the first major system seller for PS2 when MGS2 hit. Prior to that the sales had been good but not fantastic. I'm just glad Sony and Microsoft will both need big titles after this. I'm sick of MGS and Halo. Mario can continue forever and as long as it stays as good as it always has been I'll be there.

LOL. hetman says, "it's not a system seller" and then fedaykin says "now I DO have to buy a ps3." System seller? I think so. How many will be sold will have to wait til that fateful day when this title is released. The fact that 360 fans can't seem to let this rumor die is testament to the appeal this game has.

While you have gained inasmuch of respect from me as I give, I must say that you are wrong. PARTIALLY. It will sell systems, as people wanting to play this game will have to buy a PS3 to do so. However, due to the audience of this game franchise (which has increased with every installment), the PS3 sales will not go from good to fantastic. This may be due in part to the low price of the 360, and will also be contributed to the many people that anticipated this and bought the PS3 ahead of time.

In case you haven't noticed, this is MGS4, not MGS2. And I believe that MGS2 was also an exclusive. But thanks to Remote Play, you should also be able to play this on your PSP.

Yes MGS4 is a system seller. It's gonna start the Sony train since Killzone 2 comes out around the same time. It's just funny because everyone was talking smack about the 360 until Gears of War came out. Don't forget the 360 was losing to the PS2 until that game came out.

MGS4 will be lucky to sell over a million copies. I personally already plan on buying a ps3 because of UT and the ability to dload mods. That is enough for me. I just cannot see this boosting the sells of PS3's like Halo did for the 360. I think FF at least in Japan will be the real system seller for the PS3. Look what it did for the psp.

Well, it will be a loss for Konami. They are not going to make what they have spent on just releasing it on PS3. Uncharted, Lair, Jack & D or even Heavenly S have not seen such great sales on PS3, MGS4 will suffer the same. That is the same reason why Square Enix is on the fence right now. Exclusive contracts for this generation is a gamble that really takes some looking into. The cost of making games these days can affect how much revenue one can make back from only one system release. Sony has not convince consumers how much better that PS3 really is. Games on each system all look and play the same. Acception to the Bluray player that's built in. Nothing more has been done to really say, wow, that system is worth spending the extra money and where are the really good games. MGS4 is not really a system seller. GTA4 is. Exclusive content on Xbox 360 is going to sell systems..

Considering halo 3 was a dissapointment, I wouldn't bank too highly on any game. MGS for the Playstation One was a system seller just as much as Final Fantasy VII was. It's all about taste. The 360 has it's perks, so does the PS3 (remote play anyone?)

mgs4 could sell systems, but only the hardcore fans actually care about that game anymore and mose of them should have already bought a ps3. the only selling it's going to do is to the ps2 owners who don't already own a ps3.

Don't mean to hijack this posting, but I've got a question.
I know it's possible to install foreign operating systems on the PS3. So if I were to install XP on a PS3 and, using a hardware emulator, I could, in theory at least, play PC games too? Has anybody else ever had that thought?

Ya know, to say that it isn't going to be a system seller is kind of subjective. Kind of. From a personal standpoint, it may not be enough to make you, personally, purchase the system. However, others will feel that they need to purchase the system in order to simply play this game.

I think MGS will drive some sales for the PS3. I agree with some of the other comments that it won't drive them to the extent that Halo 3 did or the Wii's family-friendly concept did. I don't don't think that SMG drove sales of that system more than families thought they could do it together. Hence the casual and first-time gamers associated with the Wii...

Im not going to get into a bashing battle today. But i would like to Laugh Out Loud to all the people who were telling me yesturday that MGS4 was coming to the 360.

I saw those numbers today for the first time too! Its great that the PS3 is outselling the 360 now. I dont think that will change for awhile. Hell even the PS2 is outselling the 360. Its about time people are starting to recognize the superior system.

All the games xbots don't want going cross-platform, but they would want our exclusives,
but I told those Fking monkeys yesterday to give it up, Kojima most likely wanted a machine that could show off his final masterpiece i.e, not the plzfixme.

Square-Enix never stated that they were on the fence about FF 13 or verus 13, which is why they are dveloping an original IP for the plzfixme, so you monkeys don't feel left out,
I thought it was Last Remnant but thats on both systems.FF 13 and versus 13 is not a cross-platform game, but you monkeys will
get a nice RPG from SE.

Then start preparing to get your PS3, FF 13 and verus 13 are only on PS3, I know for a fact, Not that they are big shots in Sony,
but I got family in one of the higher hierarchy
of Sonys offices, over in J@pan, and they keep me posted on somethings that might pique my interest, plus when I am done with college, I am moving there, to work for Sony, or Square-Enix.Plus the game they are developing for the plzfixme is a shooter type game, not a RPG as previously thought.

I'm an Xbox owner. I don't feel that all Xbox 360 games should just be exclusive or vise versa. Unless they are published by the respecting system developer. Remember how a bunch of Sony fans were bent out of shape because of Devil May Cry 4. So much that a petition was created on the net. Konami is not owned by Sony just like Capcom is not own by Sony. Hey, like I said ealier, it will impact Konami in sales. Something Square Enix is really looking into with Final Fantasy. Some developers out there jumped the gun with contracts with out seeing how the market would turn out. Who would have thought the Wii would have taken off, who would have thought that PS3 would end up at third place so far. MGS4 must have been contracted long before this was started assuming that Sony would have been the system to have, but look at it now. That is why Capcom and some other developers did not make that same mistake.

Halo 3 did not boost the 360 sales most people who had a 360 alreaady were waiting on that game. the game is out and the buzz is over. If you want to play MSG4 you must get a PS3. The fact is Games are not scarce on the PS3 any longer and 08 I feel is going to be a breakout year for the PS3. Already sitting on great titles such as Uncharted and Rachet, the PS3 is coming along. the 360 came out is 05 was weak in 06 and came along in 07. the PS3 came out in 06 and started making moves in 07(end). MS is possibly releasing a HD DVD model to try and rally the 360 cause the the PS3 is coming along.
-Developers woes are over
-Games are equal if not better on the PS3
-Dualshock 3
-Enhanced PSN

The only thing 360 has over PS3 is XBL,
but with that said developers, save for Rockstar, are leaning towards PSN because
Sony does not put a big gap between gamers and developers, 50 megs is the limit on live, there is no limit on PSN, developers are taking their time with PS3 games to see what their imagination can come up with, due to the freedom Sony gives them.
MS= take from the consumer, give a lttle
Sony= Take a litle from the consumer, give them more.Sony is about innovation, always has been, MS loves to just give you guys watered-down PC games and you all drink it right in, giving fuel to a monster thats needs to be stopped.

icedbirdman put it right with the past and present of both systems, which all you xbots seem to forget, 360 was only selling because people wanted to say "I am next-gen, your so last gen", yet the systems software stunk to high heaven.Sony can't endure the same up-hill battle without a bunch of monkeys automatically calling fail, these monkeys need their gamer cards taken away and if they come within 50" feet of any console, shoot 'em in the back.

Exclusive content (GTA4), Also the fact that Xbox 360 turned out more games than both the Wii and PS3. Xbox 360 is selling more based on games, not because of one game, but because of the many games worth having the system for. MGS4 may sell systems, but MGS4 can't be the one reason to own a PS3, there has to be more must haves. Lair, Hevenly S, J & D, Drakes Uncharted. Sony needs to bring out games that sells system, not bet on one games that might.

I am not saying Sony is not after our money,
its just that they seem to give a fk about
gamers more than MS, and thank 3rd party support for the subpar library of games 360 has, had little to do with MS besides the hardware being the first on the market, which, yes can make a big difference,Ipod vs. Zune for example.
I am glad the xbot monkeys will be able to see why DMC rocks so much, but some games just are meant for 1 system, Halo, MGS4, and FF.
But hey give me Gear of War, that game was the only one I played on any of 360, which is why I sold it for scraps, my PC runs the game awesomely.

Deathsdelivery, your forgetting about getting what you pay for. I've played both 360 and PS3 online and there's a huge difference. XBL costs money, but I never lagged once online. On the same IP we hooked up my buddy's PS3 and it lagged like hell. On top of that, XBL has a huge library of downloadable content, PSN..... not so much.

But about MGS4, I really don't care about it not being on the 360. You see, I like my stories to actually make sense. I also like to play my games, not watch cutscenes for 20 minutes. I also like realistic stealth games, where I actually have to think about what I'm doing, not hide in a cardboard box.

One more thing PS3 fans. STOP BRINGING UP THE RROD!!!!! IT'S NOT A VALID ARGUEMENT ANYMORE. RROD is a problem on one batch of motherboards where it wasn't cooling properly causing the system to fail. Changes have been made to the board design and every board since runs cooler and quieter.

How do I know this? I work for Gamestop repairing 360's, PS3's and Wii's.

I have not seen lag on my connections, so thats a moot point in my ears.
Content is still limited, as for gaming,
But developers are leaning towards the PSN
for the freedom of content they can provide their consumers, yets see, 1 year of content over the comp, yeah you should have a fking lot.

Yeah lets play games that help escape the trails and tribulations of real-life, just to have the game simulate real-life to fking tee.

@ Jimbodawg - Dude, it did not stop Microsoft from making Lost Odyssey which is released on 4 DVD 9's. Does is really matter. I don't mind changing disc's and that comment is irrelevant, no game is stoping Microsoft from releasing because of space. There has not been one game ever turned down because of space issues. So far there have been only two games I know so far that has multiple discs and that is Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey and I did not hear anyone complain about changing discs. You can release a game on Bluray because of space but that still does not make the system worth getting if the games are not that good.

So Sony finally woke up and opened up their wallet for Konami.

I guess they realized that if they lose the MGS exclusive, they have lost the console wars.

This is good news for XBox users because we don't want a monopoly. Monopoly gives a company the power to give you garbage and you have no choice but to consume it. Just look at the history of the Playstation.

The 16-bit era produced the most awesome games, why, because Sega and Nintendo were neck and neck in competition.

As much as I'd like to see Sony dead and buried, I also don't want to see the rich nerd in Seatle screwing up the console market like Sony did.

Subpar library of games on the 360? Clearly you haven't picked up a 360 controller. Mass Effect, Bioshock, Halo 3, Condemned, Naruto, Gears of War and Dead Rising are all exclusives that got great reviews.

What does the PS3 have? Resistance, warhawk and Drakes fortune. that's it. With Lair and Heavenly sword not being up to par thats the only reason to get a PS3 at this point.

Downloadable content has a fee because someone has to pay for the developer taking time to make it in the first place. However, if you wait about a month or two, downloadable content loses its value and you get it for free. the only downloadable content I have yet to pay for is stuff for oblivion.

As for developers leaning towards sony, name some, because I have yet to hear of any. In fact I've heard multiple times that the PS3 development tools are harder than 360's, which is why shared titles like GRAW and Rainbow Six Vegas don't translate well. If you dont believe me on that one, check out the reviews shared titles.

Sony is losing the consol war by whose numbers.
360 had a year headstart and was overtaken by the wii. PS3 cost the more and it still beat out the 360 numbers in head to head and far as the first year goes and it is helping to destroy HD DVD where every you see a loss its not for the Playstation brand. 360 keeps reienventing their system to keep up with the PS3. the only limiting factor for the PS3 is the programmers and they are comming along in a strong fashion. 08 is the year. a more affordable sku, daulshock 3, home, and a more impressive PSN showing. Sony is coming and the games have started to drop already so just quit hating

wow, deathsdelivery, I must've struck a nerve.

Only two games worth playing? obviously everyone in the gaming world disagrees with you because all the titles I named, both 360 and PS3 got perfect reviews on not only G4, but Gameinformer, gamespy, ect. ect.

As for being banned on XBL, you only get banned if you cheat or mess with your hardware. I've been on XBL since it started on the original Xbox and I still play with the same group of 40 people, none of us being even threatened with a ban.

Old ass titles who cares now,developers already stated that X-platform games will start life on the PS3 hardware, meaning Equally made game, if not better for 360,
making 360 games smoother in detail,
and better looking.
The Tomb Raider camp is the first, but will not be the last, to say that the flexibility
given on PSN is better for developers who want to make awesome ass DLoadable content, XBL while not as strict as they used to be, is still rigid enough to make radical game dev.
look to the PSN for the freedom that they need.
Tell those monkeys at MS to lighten up, because that is a big deal wether you know it or not.

You damn right, lets say you buy a xbox 360 , it RROD on you, you send it in, they fix it for free, then you start playing agian , whoops RROD again, send it in, you have to pay,
S o I buy a new one same thing, another one same thing, and yet another one(gears of war is that awesome to me) same thing happens, would you still have the same stock in that company that continually screwed you over,

I am a converted ex-xbot, now Sony Good durable hardware, with software not to far off in the future, besides Elder Scrolls when the 360 launched all it had was soupped up sports games
which I don't care about, plus patience is a virtue and if you think PS3 does not have games worth palying, you have not played it.
Where most rely on reviews from others, I deal with exp. and Sony ahll rise again.

Sony lost the exclusives because the 360 was being released a year earlier. It was a business venture on the part of those companies.

Imagine if everything was reversed and the PS3 had come out first? It would have more games, it would have more exclusives, stuff like that. You just don't understand business maneuvers, do you?

The PSOne had MANY MANY MANY garbage games. Majority of N64 games were FAR FAR better than the trash from the PSOne.

Sony had NOTHING that can touch Mario64, Zela OOT and Golden Eye.

Mass Effect, Bioshock, Halo 3 and Naruto are titles that have shipped within the last few months.

As for shared titles running smoother on the PS3, no, not really. go read the reviews for the shared titles. most will say that the graphics actually look worse. If you want some examples go to gamespy and read their reviews for rainbow six and the orange box if you want some examples.

And once again, what developers are you talking about? you have yet to name any. And what freedom are you talking about? you know as well as I do that sony will regulate it's content just as much as ms does because it doesn't want kids downloading inappropriate content.

If you weren't an idiot, you'd know that Microsoft LOST big time with the original XBox and barely made a profit.

They also aren't profitting very well with the 360. Microsoft makes most of its money with software and the numerous investments they make outside the computer world.


Sony makes major profit by selling people 5h1tty electronics to morons and charging an arm and a leg.

Sony WAS a leader in the tv world, not anymore.

Samsung, Panasonic, Toshiba and Sharp are just a few tv manufacturers who make BETTER and CHEAPER tvs than Sorny.


I'm glad that Sorny is not making as many PCs as they used to. Their desktops were overpriced POS while their laptops get urinated on by cheaper and better ones from Dell, Toshiba, Fujitsu, HP and Acer.

Thats because alot of companies are still porting from 360 to PS3, if its reversed than games on both systems will be better.Your not reading what I am posting properly dicksnot,not old games,, the new ones need to start life on the PS3 for a smooth transition
when you port inferior code to a supieror machine, the game will suffer

White engine, which is FF 13 and verus 13 is running on, cannot be ran on the 360,
Plus this is weird, Square-Enix has bought a Unreal engine licence, for an up coming shooter game for the 360.

I am not talking about movies and show dls,
I am talking about game-related content, I am in school to develope games, and MS has restrictions left and right, aside from file size regulations, that Sony sees as being ridiculous.

Madden 08 is choppy and slow on the PS3

Assassin's Creed is also choppy and slow on the PS3.


PS3 is a hype machine. If you take out blowray, there is nothing special about it.

The 360 is a far superior hardware.

Sony says that they hardware is a "supercomputer". Then how come the supercomputer of a PS2 is outgunned in power by a Celeron powered X-Box1? LOL!

Sony is all about gimmicks.

MGS4 not being on 360 is a suprise to who? and @ dougdanger, wtf are u babling about, this is a console war not a friggin tv/computer war. also @ sum1 who said GTA4 exclusive 360 content is system selling..... no1 is going to fork over 350$ just to get a few extra cars and a small extended storyline. if GTA4 is a system seller it will be for both consoles with the side kicker of the consoles other games which the ps3 will have the advantage by the time GTA comes out(poker refrence). also Rockstar still supports sony over M$. hence the delay so the game can run better on ps3 hardware.

Rockstar didn't do it for their love for Sorny. They didn't it so that one version wouldn't be rubbish. A rubbish title isn't something big developers look forward to.

So yes, Rockstar had to sweat bullets, develop the PS3 version 3 times longer and cost 3 times more. Smart huh.

The 360's version has been ready MONTHS ago. Rockstar had to delay for several months because the PS3 version is crap. So now, instead of developing the sequel to GTA4 or another great game, they have to waste time and money trying to make the PS3's version to come close to the 360s.

Sony has done nothing but copy Nintendo and Microsoft.

Sony copied the Wii's motion sensing. Sony copied Microsoft's online play, wireless controller and hard drive in a console.

MGS will sell PS3s just as much as Halo3 sold 360s. It all boils down to the fans and who is willing to spend what to play what games. I personally am waiting till I get a bigger apartment to get a PS3 so I can also get my 56" LCD tv to play my 360, PS3, PS2, XBOX, and WII. Big party over at my place in a year. BYOB and bring me some, hahaha.

Nintendo has NEVER been all about "hardcore" gaming. They have always been "tame" and "kid friendly". They took out blood and violence that the Sega system had. The Gamecube has always been aimed at kids.

Nintendo is smart by going after the rest of the population that don't play video games. Those people far outnumber the hardcore gamers.

Nintendo catered to a segment of the population that didn't care about videogames. Now they have more money than they know what to do with.

They can care not what hardcore gamers think of them if it brings them money. Besides, if you don't like swinging your arms side to side, you can always play with a Gamecube controller.

I think you're just looking for ways to hate Nintendo for their success.

I am not saying this as a fanboy, but I don't think MGS4 is not going to sell that many PS3 (in the US) to people who don't already love Metal Gear(like me). Ture the game is the best looking game so far, but that type of game just wont sell to the mainstream gamer in the US. It is games like Killzone 2 and God of War3 that will sell the PS# in the US.

What an idiot you are. Microsoft gaming studios have been around before the Sorny's PSOne came out.

Microsoft got smart by going after a segment of the market, and that is the one who loves PC games but can't afford the rig to play them.

To have a decent gaming PC, you'd have to spend atleast $1,000 (fast cpu, lots of ram, high end vga card, monitor...) it gets pricey.

Now I can buy an XBox 360 for $279 and start playing kick ass "PC games". I can barely get a graphics card alone for $300.

Doug i agree Sony has copied before. My only complaint with ur post is I don't think non gamers outnumber gamers. Wasn't it like 90% of guys play videogames and 60% of girls play videogames.

Yeah MK 2 on snes was lamed down, and I had every system including the famicoms and SF,
gameboys even had a DS, so if I was looking for reasons to hate Nintendo, then why would I give them money, I liking nintendo stopped mid-way through the gamecube/PS2 era.I was always defending Nintendo from Sega lovers.

They stated their audience for the Wii is not the hardcore gamer, so I, being a hardcore gamer, abandoned them.Tried Xbox 306, got bricked alot, so until they have more than 3 decent games,MS, and this is from what I have played, not from the majority opinion, which it seems you rely on, I will stick with Sony, and if not Sony, or the 360, the only systems

The Wii captured the attention of housewives, grand parents, aunts and uncles who have never once touched a game console.

Majority of those people don't care about high def graphics, cell cpu that wipes your ass or playing movies and controlling it with a banana with buttons.

a computer that can run Gow and Bioshock with better graphics, sound, and gameplay.

I mean 360 doesnt even have blu-ray...would you want to have to change the disc for every mission?
ha dont think so.
Konami already said it would use almost all the sapce on a blu-ray disc.,..thats like 5 and a half dvd9's that the 360 uses.

It only becomes watered down YEARS after you get my left overs. I enjoy the Halo and GOW series long BEFORE you do. Also, playing it on hardware that costs 4 times of mine... I'm not surprised its better.

The X-Box1 was ORIGINAL. No other console offered online gaming. No other console had a built in hard drive. No other console offered more hardware power. Yes, its Celeron based cpu was far more powerful than Sony's emotionless engine.

The wii does cater to hardcore gamers. I gurantee most if not all hardcore gamers love the new metriod, zelda, and mario. That is only three games but three really good games. Once you add the value of the VC and the cheapness of the wii itself. It is just silly when anyone says the wii is not a great console.

I would rather wait and play it right, then to play it at its lowest form, thats the problem with most, I said most, Xbots, They act like if they have to wait for something, it takes away from the game, too bad.

My Grandpa plays Dr. Mario on his SNES. He wishes it'd come out on the Wii VC. Nintendo is great at making consoles, but most of good Wii games are from 3rd party developers. (Except Red Steel, that sux) The 360 is also a great console, I play Halo 3 all the time. When it RROD'd I bought a Wii and basically played for a week and then gave it to my sister. (She's 9) I got a PS3, and Warhawk and Oblivion, and I can't put it down. I still occasionally play Halo 3 & Small Arms on my 360, but overall I play my PS3 more than anything.

All three consoles are great, so just try them all, and stop saying which is better. Because everyone is different, you'll never get a final answer.

If they were so original, then why did they abandon some of the things that made them original in the first place? On the 360, no built in hard drive unless you paid extra. The PS3 can be just as original as xbox1 cause it offers bluetooth and built in blue-ray reader. I think MS is copying Sony. They saw how many attachments people had to buy so they are moving towards that and Sony is trying to sell an all-in-one package.

@audallas84:RROD is still an issue if you really worked w/ a 360 then you would realize the flaw is in the design. It doesn't manage energy efficiently which cauzes the overheating. The newer ones may be better at dealing w/the problem but what about the 10million+ in house holds that predate the fixing??

@EVAzero Cut sceens aren't what MGS is all about if you knew the story then everything in the cut sceens would make sense. I've been playing MetalGear since NES. That's how long and creapy this story is cauz Hideo has been right for the last 20yrs...

Wow. Look at this. You know, this is getting out of hand. To be honest, i dont think anyone on here even talked about how they wish they would have gotten a PS3 so they could get MGS4. Im not gonna lie, i never played the game. But All i know is that their new enemies known collectivly as Beauty and the Beast. You cant tell me that isnt the gayest name for an enemy ever. doungdangger conparing the ps3 to the ps1 and ps2 does not make any sense. if Sony where to just shoot out games (good) they wont be up to par as if you where to put the game out for the ps2 or ps1 it takes time so you feel like you are playing a next gen and not a last gen. anyways that story shows you that g4 is a xbox fan making up a story after konami said that the game is not going to go to the xbox 360.

I'm glad it's not being ported that is a GOOD SIGN. Why may ask, beacuse it preludes that the game possibly uses 50% or more of PS3's power. If that is true then the game can't be ported even if they wanted to beacuse the game would be too much for the 360's processor to handel. Games on that lvl is what i bought a PS3 for. I've said it before and I'll say it again CROSSPLATFORM = NOT GOOD (for PS3 owners). The most powerful game on 360 will only use 50% of PS3's power at most. PS3 games that use 50% and higher will not be capable of being ported.

Anybody who's ever payed the series will know this game is gona be great. I've been palying METAL GEAR since NES. It's that good, every installment is better than the last. MGS isn't one of thoes games that you can judge by the trailers or clips, cauz the trailers and clips are really directed to ME (fans of the series). We know about RAY, REX, liquid, Olga, and the FoxDie virus. The elements form the trailer to an outsider of the series would have you scratching your head but to us hearing that stuff is like a Naruto fan finding out Jayria Dies, or to a potter Fan hearing that Potter got Married!

It be funny if Microsoft came out or Sony came out and said this was a rumor and that it is going on xbox 360. Anyways I be getting the PS3 no matter what but not because of MG4 but because of FF 13 but now I have another reason to get the PS3 now.

mgs4 looks tight for a nonwii game that is! I own a Wii and SSBB will provide with all the Solid Snake action i need, but from what i can tell the PS3 is gaining on the 360 fast. The end year results has the ps3 selling 9 million consols worldwide in 12 months and the 360 selling 16 million in over 24 months, of course simple math will tell you the ps3 is selling faster then the 360 did in the same amount of time by about 1 million units. Now the ps3 may never catch up to the 360 because of that year lead but consider the 360 had an amazing year so most people who want one probably own one now, if that's the case and 360 sales slowdown and the ps3 continues like it is it may be a horse race for 2nd place, Wii sold 19.5 million in 12 months.

But the 360 has it beat hands down on game experiance and plain fun games on and offline.
Lets Hope good old Bill Gates can offer Hideo Kojima a gift with no realation to Kojima's coincidental timming on making a MGS4 for 360!

Mgs4 is probably to big of a game to fit on a normal size dvd, it probably needs the extra space that blueray provides, unless it came on multiple discs.

yo my router broke a few days ago so I'm using a wireless connection from my ps3 to my modem which is far. I can still get online but I'm only at 15 percent maximum in the newtork status.


I'm gonna get a 50ft ethernet cable soon or a new router.


Games planning on buying: Haze,mgs4(mgs online ftw!!!!!!) maybe killzone 2 if the multiplayer is awesome.


I'm currently playing madden and the burnout demo .




Burnout looks like the best racing game I've ever played. :)

2. I'm pretty sure the content they've put into MGS4 (graphical or otherwise) is not capable of fitting on an HD-DVD.

3. Bill Gates might be old, but he's definitely not good. He screwed everyone over with a little thing called Vista. :)

No red rings here, no disks eaten (maybe because I know how to read the instructions, I don't know)
I love my PS3, movies never looked better, I already own it so I don't need your pathetic "FAN BOI" rants. I just wish we would see MORE good games. There are a ton of 9+ games on the 360 (exclusives) The games released on both systems I will continue to buy for the 360 to get the ach. points.
Sony will catch up, it's just getting old that a company with such a strong showing "LAST GEN" is taking this long. Can't be a lack of resources.

it's funny how the future of the PS3 lies in ONE GAME.

If MGS4 comes out and it becomes something like LAIR (remember that Sony hyped it up to be an xbox killer, but it stunk) PS3 will on the bus down to hell.

The future of the PS3 doesn't lie in one game.
It lies in games like Haze, God of War 3, Destroy All Humans: Path of the Furon, and (by way of backwards compatibility, on which feature the Xbox is quite limited) Destroy All Humans: Big Willy Unleashed. Also MGS4, Warhawk, Gran Turismo 5, stuff like that.

Put that in your pipe and smoke it!

DAM IT TAKES 3 DIFFERENT XBOX360'S MODELS, JUST TO SCRATCH THE SURFACE OF THE PS3'S SPECS. JUST BECAUSE THE ULTIMATE XBOX 360 IS GONNA BE QUIETER AND HAVE A 1080P OUTPUT, 320 HARD DRIVE A BUILT IN HD DVD PLAYER DOESN'T MEAN ITS GONNA HAVE THE SAME PROCESING POWER AS THE PS3.

MGS4 itself won't. Perhaps maybe MGS4 Substance or Triple Snakes... remember that Sony fanboys said that it was a PS2 exclusive, yet other versions made it over ;-)

@dougdangger: your a perfect example of a 360 fan boy your don't know jack!! MGS has tons of repaly value. I've watched the trailer alone several times. just beacuse I KNEW there was something I missed the 1st time like the strings on the dude who kills his teamates. If you got a HD TV you'd be able to see the strings. I replay the games cauz they are fun and they have tons of things you can side track and do. (most of them comical) Stop bashing a game you've obviouly never played. For you info MGS4 will come with an Online play that I can't wait for.

@BlueHawaiiSurfe..Umm maden not running 60fps is not PS3's fault. It's EA's fault. Their programers are that skilled. Others have had 60fps on PS3 but they remain one of the only people who don't do it. They suck big time.

The last Metal Gear for the Xbox was MGS2, after that 6 games were exclusive to Sony systems.
Meaning Konami tasted the Xbox and said no more!

Also, they did say that MGS4 will be the last MGS game EVER! Along with MGO!

idiots like you need to stop the Madden issue as we may call it was a programming issue not an issue with system performance. Madden 08 was the third installment for the 360 and the previous models 30 frames. NBA live the issues was fixed both look and run the same. all the time you idiots look @ the faults of third parties well that issue is no more cause everyone is starting to get on the same page. dont show your ignorance and not give the facts cause even EA aplogize for the grave mistake!!!!

@ShinGino: the last MGS?? really I heard it was just the last one w/snake in it. Hideo said that Snake was his and that he didn't trust/'want to give it' to anyone. For quite some time now he's been wanting to pass on the MGS Franchise to the next generation of game makers, but i suppose no one has stepped up yet.

maybe if u get a job and stop playing WOW maybe u wil get ur source right about the DS3 its probably going to be 29.99 for what i read in PSM. N this turning like HALO 3 coming and all u xbox 360 said the ps3 is done for. ( checking his ps3 ) nope its living and letting the darkness of HIGH D in my tv.

I'm pretty new to Metal Gear Solid. I played through number two, and well it was a nice departure from all the xbox gaming. Though I had never actually owned a ps2, that was a game that probably would have made me go out and get a playstation. I eventually did buy one for the devil may cry games, but stop playing it after those finished. Hopefully metal gear solid 4 is not all graphics because it looks very promising, enough to go out and pick up a playstation 3 for. And yes I'm a die hard xbox fan but metal gear is just great and should not be missed.

well said doggy, but since this is the last installment of MGS that's gona have snake i suggest you get the MGS for Nintendo, PS1, PS2, and this final one for PS3. Cauz the story line links. I've been playing this Series since Nintendo and I can tell you the graphics are just a bonus this game is all story!!
