Heavy metal legends Metallica are teaming with G8wave, Art Empire Industries (AEI) and Alchemedia Interactive Media (AIM) to broadcast the band’s music videos with visual prompts and audio promotions in Japan. The companies hope that the promotion will encourage fans to buy a selection of content made for mobile phones, including music videos, video ring tones and other exclusive content relating to Metallica.

"We all know that Metallica has a huge following globally,” said Brad Mindich, chief strategy officer at g8wave. “But the Japanese market, with its advanced technologies and consumer desire to test new mobile applications, allows us the opportunity to expand the band's reach and influence even further."

G8wave provides interactive entertainment, social networking and mobile marketing services, including mobile content distribution, mobile marketing applications and consulting and mobile community development services. AEI is a UK-based digital media & entertainment company that specializes in acquisition, production, marketing, distribution and monetization of digital content, while AIM is a UK-based mobile media production company.

This is great news for music fans who feel that between all the albums, videos, tours and merchandise Metallica remains underexposed.
