New Toshiba Laptop Has Touchscreen

Posted by Brian Leahy - Monday, December 10, 2007 10:30 AM

Tablet PC's are still struggling to catch on in the mainstream, but they have a lot of great uses for different jobs. This new Toshiba Protege features a touchscreen, which does not require a stylus to manipulate.

The 12.1" LCD swivels as most tablets tend to do, but also features LED backlighting.

Other features include a glare resistant screen, built-in webcam, fingerprint reader, spill resistant keyboard, and falling HDD protection.

It'll set you back about $1700, but it'll make you feel like you're on Star Trek.

Someday a porn company will start utilizing this feature and we'll all understand the problem of progress.

make it a 17" screen for 1700 and i'd bite... but that screen is way too small for that type of price

Yeah.....because I love fingerprints on my damn laptop screen......

Seems like it would be annoying. If you're using a laptop right now poke the screen. Whats the first thing you notice happens other than the wonderful color rainbow thing? The screen tilts back thinking you want to readjust. Do this anymore and you'll find that you'd be constantly be readjusting the screen. Annoying if you ask me. You'd have to prop the screen up with a bookend or something... If it came with a cool bookend then we'd be talking about a stellar product... the bookend not the computer. Sorry Toshiba fingerprints on my screen are not going to sell me. How could you eat Pizza while using your computer?

Ha, it was only a matter of time before touch screens would be introduced to a computer.

I never liked touch-screen, smudges.

Posted by acv56665 - Monday, November 10, 2008 6:43 AM
there not as bad you think i personally have a hp touch screen.. you dont get smudges unless your fingers are greasy, which in that case wash your fingers. when you touch the screen it does not move back it takes a lil effort to adjust.. and its great for school and taking notes becuase you can just write on it. and have it transferred to text or leave it in your handwriting. it honestly is a great computer but mine only cost 1200 and is just as good as this toshiba.

and when you touch it you do not get that rainbow thing either no matter how hard you push, well i pushed pretty hard but not enough to break the thing
