
Trekkies prepare to be disapointed. Perpetual Entertainment, the developers of Star Trek Online, has been acquired by a new company and apparently the new owners want the game to go in a casual direction.
Let's slow it down to Warp 1 and analyze this for a second. Do you know any casual Trek fans?
Fans that are so obsessed with Star Trek they would play a MMO game based on Trek... do you imagine these are the type of people that favor casual games or the soul-crushing grind of a hardcore MMO?
We're leaning toward hardcore.
Reportedly, there were no major layoffs during the acquisition, but many employees have quit based on the new direction of the game.
If you were looking forward to Star Trek Online, we suggest that you forget about it.
