Beowulf did some serious damage to the competition at the box office over the weekend, taking control of the box office and not letting up. Seems that even 1,400 year-old stories can still earn up a storm. How well, you might ask? Just over $28 million, to be precise, 40% of which were showings at 3D and IMAX theaters.
The next closest film was Bee Movie, which still did a brisk amount of business, drawing over $14 million for the weekend. Mr. Margorium's Wonder Emporium, the highly anticipated film starring Dustin Hoffman and Natalie Portman, drew an anemic $10 million.
