Hippy rocker Lenny Kravitz will be promoting his latest album, It Is Time for a Love Revolution, via a big ol’ MySpace campaign….which is a new approach for him…you know, because he’s a hippy.
Kravitz and Virgin Records have teamed with the networking overlord for an “innovative promotional campaign” to promote the album’s Feb. 5 release dubbed “Get on the Bus With the Love Revolution.”
First, there’s a contest for fans to submit videos via MySpace demonstrating why they want to be part of his tour, which runs Jan. 17-31. The trek will feature an "old-school 1970 Eagle bus that we're totally vibing out a la Lenny," Capitol Music Group president Lee Trink explains. "The bus will pick up a contest winner and a friend in each city along the route, and Lenny will hang out with these winners on the bus. We'll videotape the whole thing and put it up on MySpace and Lenny's official site."
Sounds awesome! Of course, given that there’s a camera crew filming it for promotional use your parents will likely see, so you can’t smoke weed, drink beer, bang each other, or anything else…..which means you’re pretty much just stuck on big, smelly bus farting around….except when the son of that chick from The Jeffersons stumbles on for a few awkward moments of meet and greet weirdness before getting the hell out of there…
But, no, seriously, it sounds great…
