Spock's Mother Cast

Winona Ryder has been cast as Spock's mother in JJ Abrams' Star Trek. As you will well recall, Spock was born to a Vulcan father and a human mother, and Ryder will be playing that part. We don't know if she will be playing against Zachary Quinto, which would be strange since they're almost the same age, or if she will be playing his mother in a flashback.

The shooting on Star Trek finally began on Wednesday, for a Christmas Day 2008 release. We are very much looking forward to this film, and will have more news as it surfaces.

retarded -- spock's old as anything why in the world are they making the cast young -- i swear if they ruin this movie like countless others cause they did -- i will only watch it when its free .... my point .....
stop killing classics with these young people!!

The questionable (at best) casting continues. I still have a bad feeling about Quinto. Nimoy played Spock as logical, not flat. Quinto can't bring life to anything he does and he'll just bomb I bet. That's what you get when you hire 3rd rate (again, at best) actors to fill roles so close to a lot of people. Ryder is the first semi-decent choice I've seen. Only if it's a flashback thing though, cause she looks way too young and excessive makeup would be stupid.

All I can say is I'm going to surprised on Christmas 08, but whether it's a warm fuzzy surprise or a "WTF, why did I pay 10 buck to see this crap" type of surprise, I'm not sure.
