'Heroes'' Kring Apologizes To Fans

Posted by Mike D'Alonzo - Thursday, November 08, 2007 10:19 AM

Tim Kring wants you to know he's sorry. Sorry that this season of Heroes isn't all that it could be. However, he's making sure that the second half of the season is going to be much better. The current volume of 11 episodes will end on Dec. 3rd, and has been rewritten to make it seem more like a season finale, so that Kring can clear the slate and start again, the way that fans would want, according to an article in Entertainment Weekly.

Kring acknowledges that the romantic angle between Claire and West and the one with Hiro in feudal Japan ran too long and were a little awkward for the tone of the show up to that point. He also said that the big story lines should have started sooner, and that introducing new characters should have been a function of other characters' story lines.

Personally, I think this season of Heroes is pretty good. Yes, it's a little bit on the slow side, and it's taking a while for the story lines to develop, but if there was a cataclysmic, season-changing event in each episode, it would be equally boring.

In any event, why not judge for yourself by watching the show right here on G4 on Saturday nights at 10PM, and then joining in with the analysis with The Post Show at 11PM?

NOOOO! Dammit they had to rewrite it after all. I want to see Heroes the way it was intended the fake crap due to the writers strike. The right to strike should be banned from writers just like it was from the police, fireman, and military. Its just plain wrong.

I'm with G4, I think the season was pretty damn good. It has been slow to start moving, granted, but this last episode (and the reveal of who "Adam" was) was awesome.

Oh well yet more need of us Americans to have everything handed to them on a platter instantly. Long live instant gratification!

Not sure what he needs to appologize for, this season seems even better than the first season. Each episode seems like a tease for the next one. Its the only show I've ever watched that I always feel angry when it is over because I have to wait a week for the next one.

cmdluke you are a wise man.

I think Hiro should have disrupted the space time continuum so that that would explain the change that Kring wants to make.

I absolutely love the new season... I am getting tired of Tim forcing Hiro out of all his great relationships... but I thought it was good storylines.

I really enjoy that it isn't all life-threatening drama and I'm sad that the new characters from this 1/2 of the season won't be coming back. I really liked the muscle mimic powers of Micca's cousin and the maya and brother thing could have been interesting (though i felt that wason't going to really last... 1-shot powers seem to be that way).

Here's to hoping the real mid-season finale will be a DVD special ike the original pilot (now that was cool).

I also don't know what this "drop in ratings" thing is because i know at least 15 people that i got hooked on the series and 5 more who have maxed their netflix time catching up... I guess since they haven't actually gotten to season 2 they, and others doing the same, don't count.

:)

I completely disagree, I think it has been pretty bad this season. There's more than a few story lines I don't even care about. (ie. Claire and West, the whole cheerleader thing is played out. Hiro in feudal Japan is just plain boring and cliche'. And the two Hispanics storyline is not even interesting in the least EVEN with Sylar there now)

Just my two cents.

I dont know what hes talking about. Ive enjoyed the second season so far.

I haven't been enjoying it. You have to admit, seeing the future and then trying to stop it from happening is exactly like last season.

I am ready for everyone who sees the future to die so that there isn't this gigantic deus ex machina going on EVERY season.

Does he really need to reboot the season? All he needs to do is kill off Maya, Alejandro, and West, and the show will be fine.

I think the last episode was great, but some of the preceding ones were boring, especially the Claire romance. And yeah, vision of the end of the world yet again. I hope that's actually not the big "problem" of the season. I want to see Sylar and Peter throw down atomic style. We were denied that last season. Ah well, they should just ignore the public and write the story as they envisioned.

I have to say I am impressed with how he manages to critique his own series. You hardly ever hear this from other creators and after reading the article I agree with him. In my opinion this season started out very slow, Claire’s main and romantic storyline and dialogue (which I wasn’t a big fan of before) wasn’t written very well and went on for far too long. I wouldn’t go so far as to say I have been disappointed with this season of Heroes. Monday’s episode was vary interesting and gave glimpses of where the story is going.

On a side note does anyone else think that Adam could be “Adam” meaning agent 0, the first “hero” and all of the current heroes are related to him in some way. I mean he has been alive for 400 years that is a lot of time to um…….. spread his seed. He is kind of like a Highlander except as far as we know he can have kids.

I totally agree! I think this show is going downhill since the episode before the season 1 finale. It was incredibly disappointing - there was no big fight @ the end. Save for the a bitch slap with psycho girl and sylar. that was kinda neat, but where's the big drama? I need more save the cheerleader, but different.
not the same thing!! I get it, new york's gonna blow up. yippydoo.

i have enjoyed the new season. it has been as great as season one but now that the main story arc has started it seems to be picking up steam. i don't think starting over is a good idea, thats how writers screw up the best comics.

honestly, I understand him... and as a fellow writer I sympathize but I enjoyed this season I think they just need to get rid of west, maya and her brother... and keep adam PLEASE keep adam he creates a fantastic dynamic for the show and just like someone said before it would be really cool if adam turned out to be immortal and basically is like an apocalypse/vandal savage character. that would really bring the show full scale

i think this season was great and i don't get why he's listening to an entertainment magazine. those people are all lying to get people to buy their stuff and i think this season has been great. i even really liked the whole romance part.

this season started slow but is great. but i heard that they only have 11 of 22 episodes filmed. but because for the strike they reshot 11 to make it a season finale. and the spin off Origins is dead for now. Stupid strike.

check ign.com and comingsoon.net for other heros news.

Though I'm pretty content with most of the current season, I'm disgusted with Claire's storyline. SO lemme get this straight:

The flying teenage guy picks her out from the crowd at school, just happened to be by her window when she cut her toe off, and he's already met Noah?

Am I supposed to believe this crap? Toss in the cheesy 'I can show you the world'-style flying romance and highschool pranks against the 'popular' kids. How cliche!

Everytime I watch a Claire/Boyfriend scene, I'm humming the theme to 'Greatest American Hero' to match the cheesiness.

Pirate_brahm, it must have been a while since you where in High School, the storyline does sound plausible if you think of it from a teenager’s point of view. The new kid in school is almost always an outcast to start, and is checked out by everyone to see where he or she fits into the set clicks. The fact that he was checking her out sounds about normal to me. Also, he became interested when she was in class and was hiding her skills, for someone that is hiding a great secret; this is something that he noticed. The Noah thing I understand since the 1st half of season one, he was a company man and was tagging everyone he found.

As for the second season, it did start a bit too slow for me. I understand that they are setting up the new season, but did it have to take half the season to do it? And as for the “see the future and need to stop it” idea getting old, have you thought that it might be part of a larger storyline that someone is trying to end the world by playing a version of chess with the Heroes. Think about the comments from the 1st season that Nikki was told that her and her husband was “arranged”. Last season, NY was to be destroyed, the hero’s stopped it. Now, the shadowy villain(s) is changing from human nuke to a modified virus. How hard is this to believe from the world of comic books?..

I dunno. It's a pretty great show all and all, but when I really get a chance to think about it (and not that it REALLY matters) but after all we're watching a Drama from the man that helped bring us Crossing Jordan, Providence and, Teen Wolf Too.

Maybe it's just bound to be a Love / Hate kind of thing with this show. A lot of cool characters but with only an hour a week, it spreads itself a little too thin.

Almost feels like a cross of Runaways and the Watchmen. Eh.

i think the show is close to perfect. it is a lil slow.
