Majesco announced this week that former Sega VP of development Bill Petro will take on the newly-created role of Majesco's VP of internal development. He’ll be responsible for building and overseeing studio operations with a focus on building a product line and IP assets that "emphasize fun, addictive game experiences."
“We’re excited about the opportunities that will result from this initiative and believe this move will allow us to build the same or better product as we do externally with similar or reduced costs,” Majesco’s interim CEO Jesse Sutton said. “We also firmly believe that the creation and ownership of intellectual property increases long term shareholder value.”
“Majesco is well positioned to succeed within the mass-market video game sector,” added Petro. “I am excited to join such a dynamic organization and begin expanding its in-house capabilities.”
Majesco is also starting an internal development facility in the Los Angeles area focused on casual game products and properties.
