SanDisk has just launched their new 8GB MicroSDHC and Memory Stick Micro (M2) for cellphones. These giant storage cards basically turn any music & video phone into an iPhone... well, except without all the touchscreen and UI brilliance.
The 8GB MicroSDHC retails for $139.99 and the M2 will run you $149.99.
To launch these products, SanDisk partnered up with Guerilla Union to bring us the "Wake Up Your Phone" Sunset Strip Block Party.
G4tv.com was on the scene.
The event took place at three clubs on the Sunset Strip in Hollywood, CA: The Viper Room, Key Club, and The Roxy. Press was flown in from all around the world all on SanDisk's dime.
Good thing G4 is based in Los Angeles because we didn't need a free trip anywhere.
The musical line-up featured Linkin Park, Common, The Chemical Brothers, Cut Chemist, Z-Trip, and Supernatural. It was serious business.
Before the event, some of the artists spoke with the press about SanDisk's new products and the idea behind giving phones more storage space.
These artists encouraged guests to film their entire performances and put them on social networks. Support these artists because they definitely understand the new wave of social networking and internets culture.
The party started and we're hit a few of clubs to check out the musical acts. This is definitely how you launch a product. Where was Apple's concert series for the iPhone?!
If your phone has a MicroSD or M2 slot, we suggest picking up one of these new cards and loading up on music and video. We did.
