I woldn't put too much credence into Gamespot's review of Ratchet and Clank. If you have read their links to other reviews you would have seen that:
GameTap gave it 10/10
GameSpy 4/5
GameZone 9.3/10
GamerNode 9.5/10
IGN 9.4/10
Game Informer 9.3/10
GamingAge A-
Pro-G 9/10
Gametrailers 9/10
GameAlmighty 9/10
UnderGroundOnline A-
Simply picking the one site that gives it the lowest score and then using that as a basis for its quality is simple intelectaul dishonesty. This takes away from the rest of your points which were pretty valid.
I'll give Sony credit. They're starting to turn things around. Hopefully, it'll continue...

Pitfall with a body count.
Xbox360 backwards compatibility was only close to 10% at launch. It took them 6 months to get Halo/Halo2 playable on the 360.
I agree with the games on PS3 as being sparce. I skipped out on the PS2 generation, so I am loving the fact that I can play all of those games on my PS3.
I also agree that getting rid of backwards compatibility was for production costs mostly. Give Sony time and they will have download patches to emulate PS2 catalogs. This is how Xbox360 is continuing to fix this problem. Its just not going to be able to play PS2 games out of the box and probably not for months down the road.
Sorry for the ambiguity of my post stating "popping in Halo 2 when 360 came out". All I'm sayin is that at least IT HAD BACKWORDS COMPATIBILITY. Sony is practically scrapping the feature a year after their console launched.
@CappinCurt
Srry, I seriously forgot to check the other sites...my bad, I just checked them right now. I wonder why there is such a disparity between all other reviewers and Gamespot.
IMO BC is not a big deal. Then again I don't have 800 PS2 discs laying around gathering dust. On my 360 I only have 2 last gen games I will not sell, and you know what they are. The third in the series just came out :P

LOL me too. i got a ps3 with backwards capability and i still havnt used that crap.
but i agree with the sess-man it feels good when execs tell the truth. Im still pissed though i paid $600 for mine and it hasnt proved itself worth it yet.
Adam is right again but Sony isn't the only one with the BS. They have probably shoveled the most but M$ and Nintendo have done their share.
I'm on the fence about how important backwards compatibility is. I hardly used it on my 360 and I can assume that the PS2 games will be really FUGLY compared to PS3 games. On the other hand with fewer good PS3 games to choose from maybe having access to the great PS2 library would help.
flame me, its give me something to read =] lol
eat that !
Now if you could get PS3 owners to admit they got ripped of and paid too much for a DVD player that plays a few games you would have world peace.
I dont think these companies care if we know anything so why not lie ?
I'm getting sick of the lack of not only proper widescreen support but proper Field Of View support also and lots of companies (2K) say they do or have a good reason for not doing it (more scary) which is a lie.
