Seems like people are really into vampires, especially around Hallow e'en. That's why 30 Days of Night ripped the box office a new hole this weekend, slaying all competition with a $16 million draw.
The only film that was even remotely close was Tyler Perry's Why Did I Get Married? which drew a little over $12 million for the same time frame. We're impressed, since those two movies would seem to split an audience.
In other box office news, lots and lots of dramas that no one cared even a little bit about were released to mostly no audiences, and The Nightmare Before Christmas pulled in over $5 million some 14 years after its original release, which is pretty darn impressive.
