MySpace is definitely moving toward a more advanced service with their recent announcement of a partnership with Skype.
This is pretty big news as it means that MySpace and Skype have each potentially grown their user base.
Skype could reach up to 110 million new users and MySpace could snag up to 220 million Skype users.
The idea is that MySpace friends can use Skype to voice chat with each other directly from the MySpace IM client (which an estimated 95 million people use), but TheFeed foresees a whole new era of creepy stalking and child endangerment.
Imagine... instead of creeps stumbling upon a profile of a 14 year-old girl and leaving extremely explicit messages, they can e-phone her up and harass her verbally! Awesome!
This is also a natural stepping-stone toward video chat, which Skype supports, but is not initially planned for this new service.
The new service will not be available in Japan, China, or Taiwan, which affects approximately none of you.
