Director Xavier Gens has been pulled from the Hitman movie because the film he delivered to executives would have garnered him a guaranteed R rating, according to reports. In the meantime, another director is being sought to go in and work with the editing team to water down the film to try and get a PG-13 rating.
This shows that the people in charge don't understand the appeal of the Hitman franchise at all. Note to execs: Just because it's a videogame doesn't mean that the core audience is necessarily 8-19 year old children, and you shouldn't plan your movie that way. Hitman was an adult game with a Mature rating, and the movie should be accordantly violent.
