I don't necessarily hate Halo 3, but I don't understand what makes it so incredible that people are willing to jump in front of buses to get their hands on a copy.

It's a good game, but I do think it gets much more hype than it deserves.

Halo is a great game. And Halo 3 sort of brings back the greatness that Halo 2 didn't have. Halo 2 might as well be called Halo: Online.

I agree with Adam. Unless you have something legitimate to say about Halo, there really is no warrent. I am a firm believer of a great Single player campaign and Halo 3 brought back the fun into that. Sure, its not the BEST game of the year, but it sure was fun.

i can agree with sessler but to be honest i have mixed feelings, i also too believe it is over hyped but at same time, compared to all the next gen material that has come out thus far nothing is as fun as halo 3. Keyword "FUN"
but I still remain unimpressed by any of the "next gen" games and consoles out right now. The last time i was impressed by a console or rather the last time a console set the bar significantly higher was when the dreamcast first came out, to me. Then ps2 and xbox just followed with better execution.

Well I bought Halo cuz all my friends were getting it. And let's face it ..360 is meant to play online because 1st player games are not as good as PS3 games. After playing the game I still don't see what is so great about it. It's a good game, but not great. So inconsistent. I shoot a dude w/ a full clip .. melee him and guess what I die for just one melee from him..It get me so fustrated when that happens. But honestly Halo 3 in my eyes is a dissapointment for the hype it received. Kind of like Spiderman 3.

Well ofcourse I espect Sessler to love this game. He's the biggest 360 fanboy in G4. Actually the whole G4 team are MS fanboys. I'm just a gamer, but don't like when they bash the PS3. Come on the PS3 doesn't even have a year under it's belt. MS has 2 years already and they still have console problems.

Well to all of you who bought Halo 3..if you like it and have fun w/ it. Good for you and don't let know one else tell you it sucks..

LOL if you are going to rant at least make one complete sentence.

I thought the game was a little short, but it was fun. The multilayer is good too so that makes up for the short campaign. Truth be told though Halo is about the multiplayer so I don't blame Bungie for focusing on it. Wish Halo Ds would come out.

Ok, I have to disagree with Adam on this one. I have played each single Halo and yet they have seemed to amaze me. The game is unbalanced. I load a clip into a person, and yet they have time to turn around and kill me with a few shots of the same gun as i was using. I dont like the fact that i have to *hit* someone in order to kill them instead of just shooting. Not only that, the campaign was short and the controls worked fine, but some of things felt tacked on. I dunno, i'm not trying to convince anyone NOT to buy the game, but basically, if my opinion doesnt matter, then why should anyone else opinion matter on how much they love the game.

PS3 seriously needs to get a good fps under their belt. Sure RFOM was pretty good, but the multi-player sucks @ss. MGS is the only thing that can truly save this giant turd of a system. I own both 360 and PS3 and I can honestly say that the only thing I am using my PS3 for right now is Heavenly sword and running Linux. To say that G4 is in bed with MS is just stupid. Does nobody remember the red ring of death video they did. If that wasn't a dig at MS I don’t' know what is. So Sony.... please transform our $600 giant black turd into a uber gaming machine.

the firt time i played halo was on my friends xbox, and as someone who played a lot of fps games... i found halo pretty dumbed down, boring, and poorly designed.... not to mention how dated the graphics looked even when it first came out. its just not a great game. however, if i owned an xbox, and that was the only fps game at the time for it... then sadly, i probably would have bought it.

and by the way, fnck adam...i'm surprised he has enough time to take bill gates d!ck out of his mouth even to play halo.

I agree that H3 is fun, cool and great. BUT why
all of a sudden you cant be critical if a game

i have never said i hate halo. hate is to strong of a word to use toward a game. i do dislike it, though. i have not played halo 3 yet but i have played 1 and 2, neither really stood out to me as amazing, single or multi-player. adam also said the control scheme is better than any fps but it seemed the same as any other fps control scheme to me. generic gameplay, generic graphics, generic story, generic hero, generic controls. all around generic game. but hey, if you like it, play it. what do i care? it's no skin off my nose.

What is it, ever since the PS3 has been out people been bashing on it. There is no question the PS3 will be the best system in 2008. The Xbox 360 just won't be able to match the technology and power the PS3 games will have. I mean has anyone seen Killzone 2, MGS4, Haze.

Eh. People can like Halo 3. For me, it doesn't hold any interest to me. I'm not an FPS kinda guy unless it has a good style to it. Heck, the last FPS I enjoyed was Timesplitters 2. But, I'm afraid Adam has a bit of a teeter totter of terror to overcome. In order to try to give one game a free pass from scrutiny, you have to give every game a free pass from it. I'm not talking about reviewers; I'm talking about just about everyone else.

If someone is allowed to talk abut other games they don't like that they haven't played, then it's perfectly alright for someone else to say it about Halo. Checks and balances.

all i ask is move on. I don't hate halo, i'll play it, but i've heard enough about it to make me want to vomit. I think if people talked about it for the story i would be better about it. I just hate multiplayer, there are only two multiplayers that are good to me: 1) World of Warcraft, and 2) Socom. Socom is solid fun, and u don't have to hear whiney bitches on the other team talking about how big there dicks are(Sessler!) halo just isn't as big a deal to unlike half-life2. Halo has nothing compared to it. So if bungie wants my attention, grow some balls and develop an awsome story that people talk about, not about how retards pwn each other online.

Halo is a great game but to receive all the hype that it has gotten is just dumb. I have mad respect for Halo because it was the first game to truly successfully start on-line gaming but the same Halo seems like it has been remade with new additions, if that was the case they should have gone oblivion style with just patches of the new levels ass add-ons. BTW Bioshock is by far a more revolutionary game and the graphics look stellar not to mention the sound. Sessler if you dont care about the campaign being short then why did you hate on Heavenly Sword so much all X-play did was hate on how short it was. Dont get my wrong i love g4tv but they do seem biased towards the 360.BTW The d**k in the mouth was not necessary either what are we in 7th grade?

Yes resistance ROM Was a good game, and would have been an even better online player, but need you yell/threat someone on a 360 game? I'm sure there are people who hated Resistance ROM as much as you hated Halo, and they even posted on that page, but do you think that you are better then them by posting your hate on this page? Wow alot of people bought a ps3. I know your angry but soon good games will come out when the price is down 2 3 hundred bucks, but hey it could of been worse. What is it about the time it takes to beat halo that's such a big problem? People say it's too short. Well my God you mean to tell me there's FPSs out there that play more like RPGs in length? I've played mainly FPSs since i've played games and i've NEVER seen a game play much longer than halo games. One thing is halo brings a few unique pieces to FPSs that most people won't notice due to how generic they think they are. The atmosphere is really unique but no one seems to notice. If you don't like it then you don't like it but don't act like your opinion is truth

Halo 1, 2, and 3 are good games, whether you deny it or not. I do in fact own a copy, and I think it's a very good game. After playing through it twice, I thought it was pretty ok. Nothing here that should be drop dead impressive to seasoned gamers. Not a bad game, but it's like playing the Mac version of Doom. (Yes, I know.) To top it off we had an ad campaign that indicated a truly adult and epic storyline and instead were rewarded with a deflated Saturday morning Sci-Fi show: "TILL NEXT WEEK, CORTANA!"

Sessler seems to have his head screwed on right... but then he tells me that "two Scarab battle" is the most epic thing ever?

Perhaps he should kick it back 2 years and play Shadow of the Colossus again. That game had plenty of issues on it's own but just about any one of those battles was SIGNIFICANTLY more impressive than any battle in Halo 3.

and that tough guy act at the end sounds like Sessler's been playing a little too much Xbox Live...

Crapshot, um, I'm pretty sure that he never said that those battles were the *most* epic battles ever, just that they were pretty epic, and they were.

Also, to people complaining about Halo's shortness: if you played it on easy or normal, then PLEASE, GTFO. The game is meant to be played on AT LEAST heroic. Normal and easy are for the scrubs and likewise the people who will never get to experience the full potential of the game because they suck. Those complaining about Halo being "unbalanced" because of some gripes about meleeing should also STFU. That kind of description is a clear indication that you suck. And when you suck at a game, then you obviously won't enjoy it.

I'm not telling you to like Halo, but at least reserve your judgment until you've played it properly and not while being breast-fed.

Actually, it DOES deserve the praise that's it's getting. While from a campaign standpoint, Halo 3 was great, but not excellent, its multiplayer component has brought together gamers in a way that no console game has before.

Besides, all of the attention that it gets is user-generated. So the only reason Halo gets so much attention is because of its large fanbase. And if a game has THAT large a fanbase, then it's pretty undeniable that they did SOMETHING right.

I could have sworn I replied earlier, but my post is missing. I apologize if I double post. Also, I'll sum up from my missing post.

Halo is boring because it's the same FPS I've been playing since 1993. It's also the same FPS I've been playing online since 1997. Halo is single handedly the reason the console market has been flooded with sh7tty FPSes and is also why everyone was whining last year that the game market was so stagnant. The only thing special about Halo was it a online console FPS that didn't suck b@lls. That's it.

Other FPSes that are better than Halo are included in the following list:

Half-life (any of them), Counter Strike (yes, even crappy old CS 1.3), TFC, TF2, the Battlefield Series, Ghost Recon, the Rainbow Six Series, Enemy Territory: Quake Wars, and Bioshock.

i have never said i hate halo. hate is to strong of a word to use toward a game. i do dislike it, though. i have not played halo 3 yet but i have played 1 and 2, neither really stood out to me as amazing, single or multi-player. adam also said the control scheme is better than any fps but it seemed the same as any other fps control scheme to me. generic gameplay, generic graphics, generic story, generic hero, generic controls. all around generic game. but hey, if you like it, play it. what do i care? it's no skin off my nose.

#1 if you have not played H3 you have no right to comment on it. To claim it is generic when it set the standards is completely asinine.

#2 Rock on Adam. I have new respect for you. I always thought you were a Canadian ponce but damn you grew some and laid it out. I can respect that.

#3 Halo 3 Campaign was fun from beginning to end. Much better than the H2 campaign. I have beaten it on Heroic and plan to go back and beat it on Legendary soon.

#4 Best multiplayer on a console period.

I quite playing games and then caught all the next-gen hype and started playing again to experiences new types of control schemes, gameplay, and realistic graphics, not to play the same games over again with slightly better graphics. Thats why I don't see why games like Halo and Devil May Cry get hyped out and games like Heavenly Sword and Lair get bashed when they are new types of experiences and way better graphics. And for the record I like RFOM way better than Halo mainly because of the weapons and weapon system. Only jealous of Halos recording feature.

I Agree Decipher812 i think its dumb to bash on the PS3 in an earlier article saying that the wii will be coming out with more games than 360 by 2009 it shows that ps3 is out with the same amount of games compared to time out. of course 360 is going to have more games its had more time. i am impressed with the ps3 though i think this system can stand up to time when the 360 seems to be crashing because of quick development. all 3 systems have their buck but look at the games for 360 during the same time as ps3 and then u can compare. hope that made sense

I don't see what's so generic about Halo. In my mind there isn't a Sci Fi FPS in recent memory that's half as interesting, fun, or successful-and don't you dare say Bioshock because you know as well as I do that the two games are nothing like each other except the fact that they're both in first person. I mean, you can't even compare it to another Human versus Alien game because the flood are like zombies! So now its Human and Alien vs. other Alien vs Zombies. Does that sound even remotely familiar? I didn't think so.

Seriosuly, people really seem to forget that there were well done FPS games on consoles long before Halo especially on the PS2 during it's first year. i initially but my xbox to play halo one which was good but xbox also had sega games which i wanted to continue with such as shenmue (first fully interactive game) so i can see people buying a x360 for that same reason only problem is if they have the initial xbox games its not fully functional. i remember last year when justice league heroes came out for xbox and i put it in my 360 and its not compatible doesnt make any sense. brand new game not compatible. so it would not be as cool if you had a original xbox.

Unless everyone else played some enhanced version of Halo 2 that I never knew about, I don't really understand how people think Halo 3 just has slightly improved graphics. I think the fact that it has colors besides brown and gray scares people away. Seriously, go into Saved Films, pause and zoom in on a weapon. Believe it or not, the close-up textures are actually more detailed than Gears of War. Plus, the scale of the maps is much larger and you can go anywhere in the map and close-up on anything. It really shows the work that Bungie put into this game.

I agree with Adam. I'm 37 years old and have been mostly a PC Gamer. Got an XBOX and really liked Halo 3. I never played the original halo, but I did play Halo 2. Not only can I goof around with the saved film and forge features for a couple of hours a night, the sheer number of mutliplayer variations is staggering. It's fast paced for sure, but it is a nice diversion to Rainbow Six. People love to hate on Microsoft, but as an American I'm actually proud of them. A few years ago people laughed at the thought of an American company going up against Nintendo and Sony. They aren't laughing now.

Oh my GOD. I don't think I have EVER laughed so hard at something Adam has said. That pretty much sums up my thoughts on what Halo is, and i've been saying the same damn things for a while now.

And yes, we all know other FPS games came out that are great on the consoles, but honestly, most Xbox games follow Halo's formula, and the PS3 FPS games do the same thing to a degree. You can't tell me i'm wrong. Very few games try to do it differently and most of the time, those games don't do it well, or offer the now standard control theme.

Hey Sessler, I agree with you 100%. I like the game alot it was good times while it lasted. I'm not really into the fragfest style of HALO I like games like TeamFortress2 and Call of Duty4 (WAY) alot better. I beat HALO3 on all three difficulty settings with and with out co-op and also got through some of the metta game. Alot to do. But now I am afraid I won't be back to it for the next year or so or at least untill there is something in the form of DLC. Great game not full HD quick to beat and not game of the year, "BUT" lot's to do great fun and worth every dollar. Now back to ORANGE BOX..! peace

For me it says MS has fibbed just a bit on the power of the Xbox360 if it's flagship title can't even run in the minimum 720p with at least 2xFSAA.
HALO3 will look great on smaller SD TV sets, but try playing on a 50" HDTV at 1080i or 1080p. It looks like garbage.

Well Said Adam. It felt a little too rushed, but you hit the nail on the head. The game feels good to play, the controls are the best, and while there isn't one thing which is unbelievable, it's so well put together that it compensates.

It's really annoying to listen to idiots say that GoldenEye had a good FPS control scheme (more like Archaic) and that Halo isn't special, so if you could mention this next time in a rant that would be great.

I respect Sessler and everything he says (even when I don't agree), and this is one time I don't. My biggest problem isn't Halo it's Halo fans. I'm sick of everyone talking about Halo like its the holy grail of gaming. The game really didn't bring anything new to the table it just did old stuff right, and that's not enough to make it a great game in my book. Halo is a decent game, but it's nowhere as good as everyone likes to think it is.

I apreciate the fact the fact that for the most part, people understand that halo 3 is a really good game, and frankly i am glad someone finally stuck to those stuck up assh0les who try to blame halo 3 with 'corrupting the system' or 'being a waste of time and hype'. I only wish this was done sooner. And i also wish that these came out twice a week. but thats a diffrent story. and if i get one reply saying that im a stuck up assh0le and i should kill myself, if your willng to let someone die over a comment, your really a sick and disgusting excuse for a parasite impersonating a human, or in other words a flood. ^_^

Adam is right. Halo 3 is awsome. ofcourse it's not game of the year and everyone knows that. The game is going to have it's flaws even though it is the final game of the series. it's just stupid that people force themselves to hate the game when they have no reason to. you can't expect the game be perfect and flawless and hope change your lives and soul and your way of thinking. It is just a game thats fun to play alone or with your friends. So why knock that?

Its funny how COD fanboys and Playslaves out there are like hiding there anger like saying "Well the game is great and all but the AI is stupid!"...Ha this is what they were supposed to say! "HALO is the most overrated piece of S### in the WORLD! thank god that ppl are realizing that this game sux!" You heard the man Fanboys! If u didnt understand what he meant he meant "We dont give a flying fu## what u say so stop dissing on Halo" anyways when halo is gone halo will leave a legacy behind

For those who hate Halo 3 and have to find something wrong with it, i call those people SONY-FANBOYS. HALO is the big X-BOX franchise and taking cheap shots a HALO basicly is taking cheap shots at Microsoft. HALO 3 is an AMAZING GAME any REAL GAMER would love, its the single reason why my FIRST next generation console system was THE 360 and not PS3. As of April, Now that HALO 3 has gone and past i think i'm ready to preorder the MGS4/PS3 bundle...
