We all know the Blu-Ray has a lot of storage space, but it's about to get bigger.
Hitachi has announced that they have crammed 100GB of storage onto a prototype four-layer Blu-Ray.
These new discs will theoretically work in existing players (including the PS3) after a firmware upgrade.
The discs currently have problems with the strength of the signal of all those layers, but Hitachi is confident they can figure out the problem.
Hitachi is also working on an 8-layer 200GB Blu-Ray as well as a killer 7-layer dip.
Remember, though, that the PS3's Blu-Ray drive is pretty slow and more data on the disc means longer load times and more pre-installation... and the fact that no game has really required all the space of the regular Blu-Ray yet.
