'UT III' Delayed on PS3, Slips to 2008?

Unreal Tournament III was a timed console exclusive for the PlayStation 3 in 2007. It appears that it might be in 2008, with the 360 version.

The PC version is still expected to ship in November, but Midway's financial report shows that it could slip to 2008.

Epic's Mark Rein has posted on Epic's forums, stating:

"As a public company, Midway felt an obligation to its shareholders to let them know about the possibility of a delay. But our goal is still to get the PS3 version of UT3 in stores before the end of 2007. However, we will only ship it once it?s ready and is the best game we can deliver. The PC version is still on track for a November release."

The PS3 also makes a great door stop and some people have converted into a BBQ grill.
It's good to see the PS3 coming to some practical use since it's use as a gaming machine is apparently not a priority due to a severe lack of games.

If it slips to 2008, then the PS3 won't have any real flagship titles for the holiday that will convince people to buy one now that 80GB model is going to be the standard SKU. It doesn't really matter though. The PS3 version will identical to the PC and 360 version, except the 360 version will be much, much better with Xbox Live and achievements, etc. But no matter what system you get it for, it's sure to be great. Unreal rules.

yes, i heard about the dlc but the ps3 gets it for free because it fits on the blu-ray disk. do you really think ms is going to just give it away for free, i doubt it.

and according to the gamestop website the 360 version is also coming out in 08. the release date is listed as 02/01/08.

I just dawned on me why the PS3 version (not surprisingly) just got delayed until next year just like GTA 4,you feel me?Frame rate issues own the PS3 unfortunately,you feel me?The (Time Crisis 4) gameplay trailer i just watch on here clearly illustrates the consistent frame rate issues (Madden 2008) that plagues the PS3 just like an innocent person's computer that is hacked by a hacker thru these social networking websites,you feel me?

Okay, for those who keep talking about Bluray, it does not matter, the game will be the same on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. Xbox Live is better anyways because of the achivements and new downloadible maps. I'm sure they will sell the maps on both systems or maybe give out a map for free like they did on Gears - this is for those who don't own an Xbox 360. I hope you know your holding your self back... For some reason, and I might be wrong, I got a feeling that they game is going to look a whole lot better on Xbox 360, since many games that have come out on both systems seems to look, play alot better on Xbox 360. (Madden and all EA sports games)(VF5 with online play) hey, but the way.. $50.00 a year for Xbox live is not bad, think about how much stuff some of us are taking advantage of. I think this is why Sony's online service is not working for them, these companies are about profits, not just givig things away..

GTA 4 was ready for the Xbox 360, look what happend now... Not good... UT III. I bet it's the same issue... Development time a problems with the PS3... I put my money on it..

the game was on the 360 anyway? Did we lose an exclsuive?NO.

IT'S STILL GONNA BE IN 2007, with the 360 version arriving later.

How can anyone argue that the 360 has better graphics. I saw Halo 3 on a big screen 1080p through HDMI and there were jags and pixelation on the edges of the animations during not only gameplay but the cutscenes too.

hey i own a ps3 and im happy; i got no regrets cause the online is Free. Ive just stat here and read ll the BS what half of you people have typed up. 360 fan boys get your facts right before you try to argue what systems are better. Blue ray does make a big difference in making games with higher capacity a developer is able to ad alot more to a game whether it be maps more intellectual AI or better character mapping. 360 users argue that live is better, I beg to differ they may have achievement but PSN is a more reliable service they offer server based game matches and p2p where as most of the xbox live games use p2p. PSN has a store just the same as the xbox live does. Xbox live uses a points system for currency, PSN uses the actual American dollar. Playstation 3 network is upgradable an there is room to grow like the ps3 in korea has tv over IP and the upcomming release of HOME in 08 will be another step forward.

Xbox also had a year up on the realease of ps3 so there is obviously more games for it. what where the big games in the first 6-10 months of it's release? oblivion, that is about that would have been considered amazing. In this case with UT3 it will look much better on the ps3 due to the power behind the hardware, xbox does look good (gears of war) but UT3 will be more intense requiring more disc space. games in the future 6-12 months will look much better on the ps3. It is all because of the difference in time release of the systems. Xbox has had many issues with the red ring deal and the halo discs being scratched.
